Yet another reason to support the Fair Tax, which would repeal the federal income tax and close down the IRS.

What’s next? Taxing us for the employer-supplied urinal??
Or the employer-supplied parking lot??
These ass-wipes are something else. Its like they’re deliberately trying to push the country into a full scale revolt.

How would the IRS determine how much of your cell phone usage was personal? Would they check your phone records? I have a work cell but I ONLY use it for work, I would love a reason to give it back and be unavailable after work hours!

IRS to tax work cell phones used for personal purposes.

And that's why I carry two cell phones with my all the time (my work cell and my personal cell)

Any wage or benefit you receive above minimum wage is a tax break.
We simply need to kick the communists out of office.

Why is this an IRS issue? Aren’t they supposed to collect taxes. I thought all tax measures had to originate in the House.

Or the employer-supplied parking lot??

I was already taxed for that over 10 years ago.

I worked at a downtown location where parking was paid for by the company.
I was audited by the IRS one year and they asked if I drove my car downtown to my job.
I answered in the affirmative.
They asked if I paid for parking. I answered in the negative.
Then they asked who DID pay for my parking.
I replied that it was a benefit provided by the company.

They added the cost of parking on to my wages!

You will just end up with a federal sales tax and an income tax.

In the end , if this does not stop, there will be 2 classes of citizens, those who fight to live free and those who are the equivalent of spiteful hall monitors working for the irs.

Remember when Clinton came up with the Impugned Income Tax idea on how much you could make if you rented out the house you live in?

It's funny how the IRS is considering this a "fringe benefit" when, in fact, I don't know anyone - myself included - who wouldn't happily give their work-provided cell phone back.

They aren't happy-go-lucky indicators of status: all they usually mean is that you're on call 24/7. They make it impossible to escape from your job.

This is a big issue where I work: A hospital.

Most administrators and doctors are issued a cell phone. Its a necessity especially in emergencies.

To avoid having to dance through the IRS red tape, the Hospital may cut the phones from their budget and require all doctors and administrators to PROVIDE THEIR OWN PHONE.

So a necessity for the job is being eliminated and an extra cost is being piled on to the employee.

No, the Fair Tax legislation which is being held up by the Socialists in both the House and the Senate calls for elimination of the federal income tax and the IRS. See www.fairtax.org

The phone on your desk at the office, you might have made personal calls on it. The coat rack, the refrigerator and microwave.... the list can go on for awhile.
