Graduating midshipmen of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis are being told in writing to leave at home or in their vehicles all "ceremonial swords" and anything else "that might be considered a weapon or a threat by screeners" for Friday's outdoor commencement ceremonies featuring an address by President Barack Obama.
Inside the Beltway has obtained the academy's list of prohibited items for this year's graduation exercises, which, besides ceremonial swords, includes umbrellas.

Hes as safe there as he is in his own bed at night! That will change if he tries to disarm us ... especially if he tries to eliminate our nuclear arsenal

Obama and company are saying essentially that, "This body of people, America's finest who have had the discipline to make a success of a four year regimen a the naval academy are not trustworthy of handling their badges of commission."
It obviously clear to me who is not trustworthy.
Also painfully obvious is that our military is being handled like children.

This has been posted repeatedly, and every time, it becomes clear in the thread that this is nothing new (i.e., that swords have never been worn at USNA graduations). I even saw one post earlier this evening that mentioned that a magazine (I forget which) had contacted the USNA, who said that the policy was no different this year than it has been in years past (essentially, the list was primarily aimed at visitors to the graduation - parents will often give their USNA grad sons & daughters ceremonial swords in honor of their accomplishment, and the USNA doesn't want a whole bunch of people walking into the building with bulky swords...)

I guess that is why he is going to have to build his civilian national security force?
I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and not distrust the graduates but maybe someone else in reach of the umbrellas.

I think it’s obscene that he’s addressing any of the Military Academies, and I’m not surprised that Barry feels threatened around all those scary “Military” types...
One more thing to piss me off tonight...

Is he afraid something is going to happen? I don’t even believe they get that much time, if any, learning swordplay anymore.
I suppose as a marxist liberal he will feel safer when everyone else is disarmed and only his elite guard has weapons.
As an aside, can you imagine the enormous bill the secret service agents must be ringing up on antacids for all the stress ulcers they must have developed since January?
