Letterman probably won't get fired. Personally, all I'm asking for when I contact CBS, etc. is for a full and complete apology.

Letterman has first amendment rights
Satire is protected even more
People should not be "fired" for such protected speech
The public should hound him into an apology or even pressure him to quit by hurting the sponsors sales and reputations.
Even if we are not successful we are sending a clear message that this kind of double-standard bullsh!t isn't going to be tolerated any longer. The perpetrators are going to have to defend their positions

Don Imus said “nappy headed hoes” and got fired, Letterman says a joke about the rape of a governor’s daughter and it’s discarded as a bad joke. Hmmmmm.

It is real easy to get Letterman fired, turn him off. If the day comes he says something insulting like this and no one notices, he will be gone in a hurry. All this activist stuff just floats his boat. By the way, I honestly don’t know what channel this loser is on.
And FWIW, I don’t think Imus should have been fired, or even reprimanded. It’s a free country. But employers can also do as they see fit.

Why do you believe him? The context was the game, the 14 yr old was at the game.
