Happy Thursday! Did that controversial Homeland Security report on right-wing extremists (pdf) get it right? Several bloggers, commentators and news reports suggest it did, accurately predicting the deadly shooting at the Holocaust Museum.
"Civil rights activists say a string of recent attacks blamed on right-wing extremists, including Wednesdays shooting at the Holocaust Museum, show that conservative critics were too quick to fault the Department of Homeland Security over an April report warning about the potential for such violence," reports Politico.
(Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.)
Homeland Security's Office of Intelligence and Analysis distributed the report (pdf) to state and local law enforcement on April 7. It regularly publishes intelligence analyses on domestic and international threats to the nations borders and infrastructure.
Though the report did not cite specific threats, it suggested that The possible passage of new restrictions on firearms and the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks.
Secretary Janet Napolitano later apologized directly to veterans' groups, admitting the report's language unfairly characterized military servicemembers.
Yesterday's shooter, James W. von Brunn, was a military veteran and professed white supremacist with elaborate conspiracy theories and an active Web site. An acquaintance said von Brunn thought his Social Security benefits had been cut as a direct result of government officials tracking his activities.

Filth & Shep. It’s redundant
It certainly validates the part about left-wing extremists...oh...that wasn’t in there?
Right has a very specific meaning. NOW there is nothing about this guy that is 'right' even though that is where these liars and perverts of truth will plant him.
This libtard WP writer sounds absolutely giddy that some socialist jew hater shot up the Holocaust Museam and killed a security guard, doesn’t he?
‘Happy Thursday’....to open an article about a jew killing socialist and terroristic attack?
God..they make me sick!
Whatever his motive, Von Brunn has become another useful idiot for the Left and its agenda, just as did the man who killed the abortionist in Kansas last week. There seems to be a pattern of anti-liberal lone gunners who become more active during left wing administrations like those of Clinton and Obama. This is another "Reichstag Fire" incident that the liberals will exploit as far as they can.
The left is edging ever closer to supporting preventive detention. That which they accused the Bush administration of desiring is ever close to their heart.
Heller’s FAULT!!
The left is edging ever closer to supporting preventive detention. That which they accused the Bush administration of desiring is ever close to their heart.
Preventive detention by Leftists might be a blessing; their preferred mode of silencing critics is murder on a large scale (Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro, ...). And don't forget Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, lovely personal friends of Barack Obama, who contemplated killing 25 million Americans whom they thought might oppose their plans to overthrow the government and introduce their own brand of cut-throat Leftist rule.
This guy really had issues reintegrating. Most people can manage to reintegrate over the period of 6 decades.
Ron Paul is leading the fight to audit the fed. Already, an attempt is being made to link Ron Paul’s efforts to audit the fed with the von Brunn view of the federal reserve.
But before anyone celebrates, they are also attempting to link those who might argue Obama is a muslim, those they refer to as “birthers,” and those who might claim Obama is anti-Israel, with the von Brunn political philosophy.
I support auditing the Fed 100%. Paul isn’t always a goof.
ROFL
Also a documented Obama hater and a "birther."
There is no such thing as a “birther” except in the eyes of liberal stooges. The so called birthers are adamant that Obama produce proof of his NBC status. All for $12, including postage and handling. It is that simple.
Looks like the guy chose instead to derivate which over the span of time, if one goes around the curve, can lead to a slippery slope......mathematically speaking.
