Here is the reponse I received today from the Flight Attendants Union.

"Thank you for your comments and your kind words regarding the professionalism of flight attendants. Like you, we were upset by the recent comments made by David Letterman. Unfortunately, sexist themes of the past were instrumental in diminishing the role of flight attendants as safety professionals. We have worked very hard to overcome that public perception and proudly, have made great strides. Never before has there been a time when flight attendants have been so recognized for their role as safety professionals. Because of the outpouring of responses to the segment that ran on Monday night, Mr. Letterman apologized for his remarks. We trust that he takes to heart how his words affected the proud and hard working flight attendants across the country and never makes this mistake again.

No mention of their chastising him though. I am emailing him back to let him know that was no apology.

Stupid stewardesses. On his own slur against flight attendents, Mr. Letterman's apology was as follows:

"I kinda liked that joke!"
