She dared a deputy constable to shock her with a Taser.
So, he did.
Video released by a Travis County Constable's Office shows Deputy Chris Bieze confronting 72-year-old Kathryn Winkfein after stopping her for speeding on May 11 just outside Austin.
Video from a camera mounted in the deputy's car shows Winkfein cursing and challenging the deputy and even daring him to use the Taser on her.
"You're going to shove me? You're going to shove a 72-year-old woman?" she yelled.
Winkfein told KTBC-TV in Austin that she did nothing to provoke the use of the Taser.
But Precinct 3 Sgt. Maj. Gary Griffin said Bieze used the Taser only after Winkfein became combative.
There was no immediate comment from Winkfein on Wednesday. A call to her home was answered by a fax machine.
There are about five steps that are supposed to be made BEFORE the taser is pulled out and used.
And a MALE cop felt the need to use a taser on a 72 year old woman?
I hope he loses his job and every job he even attempts to get in LE in the future.
I'm betting you haven't met many 72 year olds from Texas Hill Country. :)
Search is your friend.
Why would she have to sign the ticket, anyway?
LOL!!
There are a whole lot of parts missing from that video.
Why was she asked to step out of the car?
Why was she so close to the street?
Why was she cussing?
On his side
Why was he screaming?
Why did he body check her?
Why didn’t he just put her against the car and handcuff her?
Lots not there.
I saw this video. Woman was belligerent and aggressive. Cop gave her FIVE warnings ("Ma'am, Please step back and place your hands on the vehicle. If you don't comply I will taser you"). It was four more warnings than I'd have used, and was plainly obvious that he didn't WANT to use force.
She asked for it, and got what she asked for, IMHO.
There is a reason why police departments don’t hire anyone with an IQ over 85.
Go to the thread in post 4.
She did nothing right.
Another snotty senior with attitude.
They are all on the previous thread - still arguing.
>>There is a reason why police departments dont hire anyone with an IQ over 85.<<
What a nasty statement.
She should have obeyed the officer’s request.
Neither age nor sex nor race etc. are relevant when operating or mis-operating a vehicle on a busy highway.
I am entitled because I am a 72 year old woman?
Haven’t been around many 70+ plus have you?
I love how everyone assumes that we don’t search first.
I searched the title, it wasn’t there, because the one posted used Deputy and mine uses Officer.
That’s exactly right - just keep following those procedures.
Good thing she didn’t have a 5 pound dog. He’d have had to taze it and put 3 slugs into it
And don't get me started on the merits of PC versus Apple. lol!
Police spokesperson says he acted within policy guidelines.
Policy: if it flinches, talks out of turn, becomes agitated and argumentative, taser it. Age, gender, health, is not a concern. We’ll back you up no matter what.
This is why I hate cops.
Taser-happy little boys, nowdays.
Disgusting.
I’d like to taze him AND his mother for a while.
