After ya red up da hause, you should worsh yer car.
As I recall that year was the year the Penguins changed their uniforms to black and gold, also to try to see if that would change their luck.
I have made multiple trips to Helsinki, Finland (7) and Toronto (4) on the list. Both are gorgeous cities with lots to admire and friendly people, but there is no way I would ever live there.
Same goes for Pittsburgh and most of the east coast, midwest and left coast. I lived in southern NJ (Medford outside of Philly) for a year and have visited just about every major city in the US for business. There are always nice things and good people just about everywhere in this great country, but the exorbitant taxes, union dominance and Democrat corruption make most of them not an option for me.
I’ll take Texas weather, low taxes and freedom any day. And those that share a desire for more freedom are always welcome to join us down here!
You bet and I won’t be moving there any time soon. Get real, compared to Mexico City or Karchi maybe but there are so many other places in the States that are preferrable. And the politics are only slightly less corrupt than Chicago’s
Hahaha.. relying on GPS to get around Pittsburgh especially in the past is laughable.
Unfortunately the folks who use those things relied on maps that were official maps not bothering to realize that in pittsburgh due to topography we have legal streets that are literally nothing more than steps... Street will dead end into a set of steps, that rise 50 feet and the stree continues on at the top of the steps. Legally those steps are a street, and on official maps. So needless to say following Mapquest of GPS around Pittsburgh was comical, because the folks who set up the systems were idiots who never validated the data they had.
Now as for overpopulated? Be serious, Pittsburgh is UNDERpopulated, we literally have more homes than people... while not to the extent of Detroit, this is not remotely an overpopulated city. While many of the older neighborhoods are densily populated, 100 years ago everyone WALKED having a huge yard served little purpose, and the hilly topography didn’t serve well for the manicured lawns of post WWII suburbia. So yes victorians in old working class neighborhoods can be really close together, but don’t confuse that with overpopulated.
Basically this is how a typical neighborhood in pittsburgh came to be... A plant location was decided on and built and workers for the plant started building homes close by. THe south side basically exists today because of the plant that used to be there, (which is now the “south side works”) the workers clambered down the goat paths and hill to work daily and back up nightly.
I can bash Pitt as good as anyone believe me, but overpopulated? That’s laughable, this is one city that definately is not. YOu want overpopulated go to Silicon Valley, where you can’t find a parking space in a strip mall at 2pm on a Tuesday, not one particular strip mall... ANY strip mall.
I would worsh my car, but its still primer, I haven’t decided what keller I’m gonna paint it a’nat.
The symphony and colleges are hardly “wordl class”. Why is it that folks on the East Coast think that Boston, New York, and fill in their city name are the ONLY places on earth? No wonder Pennsylvania votes dem so very often.
Oh yeah, now that is something that I would definitely move for ... not. I wouldn’t even put it on my list of ‘boy I oughta see this some day’.
You don’t consider Carnegie Mellon to be a top tier university?
US Steel (steel), PPG (Glass), Alcoa (Aluminum) HJ Heinz (Ketchup) are all in Pittsburgh.
The Economist Intelligence Unit — which publishes numerous surveys and studies for paying clients ....
So which group PAID for this stupid study?
Second tier.
Where do you live, btw.
Not the rectum?
...no, I think Los Angeles would be the rectum if Pittsburgh is the arm-pit. That would also make the North East the head with a nose filled with snots being located out on the Cape?
Rwi, I am soooo proud, n’at...I am sobbin inta my babooshka...
Guins in Seven!!! Guins in Seven!!!
I live where my work is but not the location I want to live in. I am in Northern California. We have a minor university or two here and an occassional cultural event
Primer? Quite being a jagoff, braggin about havin a kahr n’at...what? Takin the T dahntahn isn’t good enuf?
How about our Pens though? I was pretty bummed after Saturday’s game...I think they might pull this off. How cool...Super Bowl and (possible) Stanley Cup. Hope Sid gets to skate it around the Joe!
Yea I takes my Prime Yugo crusin up Brownsville Road in Mt Oliver anat and picks me up some high class chicks.
You gotta love Mt Oliver though, its like the Pittsburgh Lesotho. Its technically not part of Pittsburgh, but completely surrounded by it.
I’d love to see the Pens win, especially the same year as da steelers, but beating Detroit is tough, especially in Joe Louis... I hope they can pull it out. Don’t know if they will.. but would be nice to see.
