The Obama Numbers Are Pure Fiction. Tony Fratto is envious.
Mr. Fratto was a colleague of mine in the Bush administration, and as a senior member of the White House communications shop, he knows just how difficult it can be to deal with a press corps skeptical about presidential economic claims. It now appears, however, that Mr. Fratto's problem was that he simply lacked the magic words -- jobs "saved or created."
"Saved or created" has become the signature phrase for Barack Obama as he describes what his stimulus is doing for American jobs. His latest invocation came yesterday, when the president declared that the stimulus had already saved or created at least 150,000 American jobs -- and announced he was ramping up some of the stimulus spending so he could "save or create" an additional 600,000 jobs this summer. These numbers come in the context of an earlier Obama promise that his recovery plan will "save or create three to four million jobs over the next two years." [MAIN STREET] Associated Press

Mr. Fratto sees a double standard at play. "We would never have used a formula like 'save or create,'" he tells me. "To begin with, the number is pure fiction -- the administration has no way to measure how many jobs are actually being 'saved.' And if we had tried to use something this flimsy, the press would never have let us get away with it."

I doubt that anybody except for the blind ostammer supporters believe the media, and that’s only because they want to believe them.
Almost everyone in the middle class has a friend or family member who has been laid off and is facing serious financial trouble. It was reported a week or two ago that the last two months of foreclosures for the first time have included people with good credit who made substantial down payments on their homes but who have lost their jobs within the last 5-6 months. How many of them foolishly voted for ostammer because they were convinced by his BS and flowery rhetoric that he would wave a magic wand and improve the economy? More sadly, how many of them are people who were NOT convinced and did NOT vote for ostammer and now have to endure the pain inflicted by those who did vote for him?

We’ll see more of this ‘proof by unknown data’ as we go down this anti-reason path.
An earlier example of this was applied to the ‘torture’ debate. The line is that ‘you don’t have to use Enhanced Interrogation Techniques to get information’. Yet there is no evidence that this is true. In fact, just the opposite is true. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed when initially asked questions said that he’d talk to us when he was in New York with his lawyer present. Then after EIT, he spilled his guts.
According to a NY Times story though, Abu Zubaydah was supposed to have given ‘good info’ before EIT, yet General Hayden of the CIA at the time, in an interview on Fox News Sunday, said:
“In September 2006, President Bush gave a speech on the Abu Zubaydah case. He pointed out that he — Zubaydah gave us nominal information, probably more valuable than he thought. He clammed up. The decision was made to use techniques.
After that decision was made and the techniques were used, he gave up more valuable information, including the information that led to the arrest of Ramzi Binalshibh. After the New York Times story yesterday, I called a few friends to make sure my memory was correct, and I guess, to quote somebody from your profession, we stand by our story.
The critical information we got from Abu Zubaydah came after we began the EITs.”
Oh and btw, Ramzi Binalshibh, according to the United States, Germany, and several other countries, was a key al-Qaeda member who helped in planning the September 11 attacks.
And anyone who thinks that a person so dedicated to spend years in a ‘sleeper cell’ will just give up important intel by the questioner ‘being nice,’ is so far removed from reality, it’s a wonder they are still alive to even contemplate such a notion or that they actually received Pulitzer prizes for “journalism” - there seems to be some connection between those two senarios.
Yet it is still claimed by the SRMedia and the Obama administration and the Dems that EIT doesn’t get anything that normal questioning wouldn’t. The point here being that it is something that couldn’t really be tested because you can do both at the same time. If you get info from EIT, someone can always say that ‘he would have given that up with normal questioning’.
This is the “evidence by ‘not there’” As many of you know, you, philosophically, can’t prove a negative and there is good reason in formal logic for that. But today nothing close to formal logic or just plain good reasoning is taught - rather, people are indoctrinated and when that happens, the idea of questioning these ‘not there proofs’ of ‘saving jobs’ goes without question to most that have been a victim of public schools.
Again, there will be more of this type of ‘evidence’ in our future. Keep an eye out for it and point out exactly what the scam is.

What this administration does brilliantly is make use of years of exposure to television advertising and Hollywood logic to manipulate their supporters(including the SRM). “All of this and MORE” “Must act now!” “You can’t afford NOT to buy this!” It resonates in the empty skulls of his minions.
Exactly. One could imagine in a couple years where the TV show "Madmen" comes up to present time - episodes that involve Axelrod coming up with this stuff.
When the average person begins to realize that all the talk has been “Emperor’s New Clothes” they will exact a price on the media. The good news is that no program that Obama ever worked on had even “good “ results, so he has no history of excelant productivity. The media and Obama are like GM - old ideas and poor execution. Soon they will be bankrupt.

I seriously doubt Obama is saving any jobs at all. For over 25 years my company has been providing specialized services to a government agencies under contract. Now one agency is planning to hire their own employees and train them at much higher cost using stimulus money in order to discontinue the competitive contract. So, Obama creates more taxpayer funded government jobs, while I’m forced to layoff taxpaying employees. So far as I’m concerned, Obama can stick his stimulus where the sun “don’t” shine.
Eventually, this "Create or Save" thing is going to become sardonic shorthand for "Destroyed" with the general public. When that happens, Obama is toast.
Rush is starting his show with something about jobs and Hussein's You Tube speech from January. I bet if you asked the laid off GM and Chrysler workers, they would tell the Ø to stuff it where the sun doesn't shine.
If the people ever snap out of it Obama will have approval numbers in the toilet. IMO unemployment numbers rising to over %10 will in their administration will ruin any President’s popularity.
