Capitol Hill interns might miss out this summer on a famed lecture from Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn on the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases -- all because of a dispute over who will pay for pizza.

The Senate Ethics Committee is requiring that Coburn, a Republican, buy the pizza for the 150 to 300 interns -- rather than have outside groups that have previously helped sponsor the event foot the bill

These a-holes go on contributor-funded junkets to luxury resorts - but let a Senator use some of that money to buy pizza for interns and its a no-no.

The Dems hate his guts and will do anything to screw him because he constantly calls their bluff on their insane spending practices. This has nothing to do with STDs, or pizza, or lobbyists, and everything to do with their hated of the Senator. Only in DC is right.

So, he has to practice safe pizza to give his safe sex lecture?

But those of us in the Oklahoma Grassroots LOVE Dr. Coburn and will work to send him back to the Senate to be a thorn in their sides for six more years! :)

Maybe the DemocRATS should have one of their experts do the lecture, like Ted Kennedy or Bill Clinton.

But who will deliver the followup lecture on 'rug burn'?

Having given quite a few myself, it takes a gifted speaker indeed to make that topic interesting.

The Senate Ethics Committee ...

Over time, elected bodies are incapable of passing "ethical" judgment on itself. That duty needs to be in the hands of independent citizenry.

Capitol Hill interns are so ignorant they need to be lectured on the dangers of STDs? Do they pull these interns off inner-city (or suburban, for that matter) streets at random?
