Sarah Palin's Campaign to Kill Wolves (Libtard Alert)
SF Gate ^ | 6/8/09 | Ken White

Posted on 06/08/2009 11:46:56 AM PDT by pissant

My personal politics aren't important here, since really my focus is the animals; loads of other blogs to look at for the more overtly political slant. I'm happy when smart and humane, pro-animal, pro-environment positions are taken by either or both Democrats and Republicans, Conservatives or Liberals, Libertarians, Greens, or aluminum-foil-hat-wearing folks concerned about the upcoming Martian invasion. But like anyone who cares about animals and the environment, no, I wasn't exactly thrilled by Sarah Palin as a candidate for vice president.

(Unexpected, related sidebar: Senator McCain's wife, Cindy, was a member of my Board of Directors for several of the years I was president of the Arizona Humane Society. Their home was filled with dogs, cats, hamsters and iguanas, all of them rescues, many of them from my shelter. I only met the Senator on one occasion, but it was always apparent to me that both of them genuinely cared about the issues of companion animals. So while this is definitely not a pro-Palin piece, I am not trashing any particular party when it comes to animals.)

Lots of jokes about the woman who felt she understood Russia since she could occasionally catch a glimpse of its shore when the fog cleared, and I don't have anything of value to add to that. I do, however, have extremely strong feelings about a governor, a candidate for the second highest office in the nation if not the world, who thinks it something between sport and good conservation practice to authorize the killing of wolves by high powered rifles fired from planes and helicopters at the tax payer's expense.

Too bad for Kenny here. Looks like Wolves are being hunted down in some of the lower 48.

Why is it that light loafered SF and NYC dwellers fancy themselves as knowledgeable about wildlife issues?

My personal politics aren't important here

When they start out like that, it's clear that the opposite is true.

I think it’s time to turn 1,000 wolves loose in the tonier sections of Manhattan and see what happens.

Why does he mention the shootings from planes at tax payer expense? Would he be ok with it if not done at tax payer expense?

They would kill and eat all the coyotes, rats, dogs, cats, opossums, and homeless..

I agree. It would have made better sense to have an open season on Libtard Tree-huggers in Alaska - and anywhere else. But I guess we are too civilized for that. We don’t even have an open season on Divorce attorneys.

Don’t any of these idiots do their research to find out that wolf control has been going on in Alaska for years...even before Palin was born?? They just want something to tag on her that hits the heart of the touchy-feely kum-ba-ya libs.

The guy hates reindeer. He'd rather the indigenous people eat seal. That means he hates seal as well.

His credentials as a certified Leftwingtard are slipping. Makes him look little better than the village idiot.

who thinks it something between sport and good conservation practice to authorize the killing of wolves by high powered rifles fired from planes and helicopters at the tax payer's expense

To break this down...
who thinks it something between sport...
To take any wolf IS extremely difficult. They are very elusive and stealthy.

good conservation practice
It is good conservation. AK wolves have NEVER been on an endangered list, and the state is bound by the constitution to maintain healthy game populations. They are a very efficient predator, plain and simple.

to authorize the killing of wolves by high powered rifles fired from planes and helicopters at the tax payer's expense
You would use a shotgun with buckshot, not a rifle, for aerial hunting. Furthermore, not all aerial hunts are taxpayer funded. Private pilots and hunters can apply and become permitted to hunt wolves from a plane, my understanding is that its not an easy permit to obtain.

Private pilots/hunters can obtain permits to aerial wolf hunt.

They have seen too many pretty shirts and paintings of lovely and beautiful wolves and they can’t comprehend that people’s FOOD is being jeopardized by them.

Marie Antionette on starving peasants (not really I know, but I’m making a point) “Why can’t they just eat cake?”

Thanks. They were doing wolf control 35 years ago when I was up there.
