Former first lady Laura Bush said while her husband, George W. Bush, does not think its appropriate for a former president to criticize his successor, she understands why former Vice President Dick Cheney has.
Thats his right as a citizen of the U.S., and I think he also feels obligated and so I understand why he wants to speak out, Bush said in an interview with ABCs Good Morning America. On the other hand George feels like as a former president that he owes President Obama his silence on issues and that theres no reason to second guess any decisions he makes.
The former first lady also approves of Obamas Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, saying she sounds like a very interesting and good nominee.
As a woman Im proud that there might be another woman on the court, Bush said. So well see what happens, but I wish her well.
Asked about the infighting within the Republican Party, Bush said while she and former President Bush talk about it a lot, its probably not that bad.
I think its just a very typical political cycle, she said of the GOPs shrinking status. Its like creative tension within a party for people to talk about what it is they how they want to be represented

Of course, he wants another one, even though there wasn't one to start with. It was a willful self-censoring of those who supported the President and respected him and the office he held because it became useless to argue against fevered, angry, irrational Bush haters who spammed every Bush thread with their vile nonsense.
btw, editor-surveyor's reference to you about the President's being married was crass and nasty, but a typical patronizing (somewhat mysogynistic) attack from one who wants to silence or enfuriate the Bush supporter (only the females, mind you....).
It's both tacky and baseless, and editor-surveyor knows it, but it's part of a game being played to humiliate rather than win the argument with facts.
Every female I know (and most men) who respects President Bush does so in part because of his undying passion for Laura, his fidelity, and his unquestioned morality.
editor-surveyor was hitting below the belt with a nasty personal attack, and he's old enough and smart enough to know exactly what he was doing.
A respectable man would never do such a thing (but you see that it got a laugh from a hater, which is obviously part of this seedy little game.
Next time one of this group does it to you, I would suggest that you completely ignore it. Their entire point is to get you angry and then say, "See......you're just an emotional little girl."
Think elementary school, and you'll start to understand this MO.
Here Here! I salute you ohioWfan & agree! great post
There's plenty of evidence for that too. It's best not to get in spitting matches with people who drool. :)
The haters have done their job well. They have, as planned, silenced "the enemy".......(that being intelligent, thoughtful, strong defenders of President Bush).
Who wants to keep putting up with the slander of an angry mob? Who wants reasoned discourse and differences in opinion among fellow conservatives to be impossible because of the presence of this mob?
Did you see the things said about me on this thread? Preposterous lies and complete nonsense. Who wants to put up with being lied about and ridiculed JUST because one has supported our honorable, courageous President?
Not many. And not me. Not any more.
LOL! I would hope that you'd "come" for your own amusement...And as you pointed out in your earlier post:
Next time, read more closely before you make any snotty replies, huh? I might actually take you more seriously. Even if I might not agree with you, I would have a lot more respect for your views!
OWF, I won the argument with facts; that is why the thread switched to sarcasm and snipping.
Now the thread is effectively one of the “un-dead” threads, of which we have way more than we need.
correct... why do this when we could have more fun rolling in a red ant hill for example?
My biggest resentment it the attitude I AM STUPID or uninformed because of my stance.
I always admired how you & others stayed & fought! I don’t like conflict.. at all.. Life caregiving mom & the other “fun” here doesn’t leave room for more heartache & tension.. so I avoid.
I wish those folks well looking for the perfect conservative...
If you are going to try to defend your actions, then do so, but don't make excuses for saying things that you knew were untrue.
btw, I don't care how you categorize this thread. As long as people are still pinging me with comments, I'll stick around.
Because it was thrown at me first, in retaliation for stating logic and facts.
I also hate the lies about me, but the more you defend yourself and fight back with these cretins, the more fun they have deriding you. Again.......that's obvious right here on this thread.
I don't think they're looking for perfection. I think they're just trying to feel like they are somebody by attacking someone who IS somebody. I laugh every time they attack President Bush for being a wimp when he defended the country successfully following the worst attack in our history, and fought two wars, one of which had no support after a few years, even from most Republicans. He stood alone in defense of the country, and they're calling him a coward.
And these guys are sitting at their computers (probably in their underwear) feeling like men by attacking him.
There is an element of humor in it, isn't there? :)
You’re so right, you know! :^)
She was accusing you of doing exactly what you did. Turning a legitimate debate into a personal, condescending attack that was based on nothing but your own arrogance.
I think you need to follow the posts backward, because you were not even close to "stating logic and facts" in the post she responded to. You were emotional and ridiculous, and that's what she called you on.
And in response, you derided her moral character. Below the belt, editor......plain and simple.
Whatever!/s
Your specious logic is as bad as your spelling. Gulf War I was every bit the stalemate that Korea was, only the difference between the two is that a complete and overwhelming victory in Gulf War I was far more achievable. Your attention is invited to Dr. Grant T Hammons' "Myths of the Gulf War--Some Lessons Not Learned" CLICK HERE . BTW, You may have to purchase the entire article if truly interested.
I know, they seem to want Superman for president. Well he’s not real; so I don’t know what they’ll do now!/s! ;^)
Where do they think they’ll find this “paragon of virtue”?
perhaps “them”????
This sounded more like the Southern lady’s, “Well, bless her heart.”
