The journalists - working for former Vice President Al Gore’s California-based Current TV - were arrested March 17 as they were reporting about....

I was gonna ask who in this nation would be dumb enough to go into North Korea. I just got my answer. Now for their own and Mr. Gores lack of good judgment what will it cost us the taxpayers to get them back or who's life will be risked in a possible rescue? Just what did they think was going to happen? Liberals are so arrogant and clueless. Sheesh!

Maybe we should consider outsourcing our mexican border illegal alien problem to North Korean courts.

My guess?
They will be given the maximum sentence.

There is already a 70-80% chance they were already raped by North Korean guards who held them in the area until they were transferred to Pyongyang and held there separately, by The Party.

They could have already been tortured or threatened with torture and wrote their confessions. We shall see.

At any rate, Kim Jong il runs the show, and whatever happens to them will NOT be the action of the Central Pyongyang Court, but will have the official imprimatur stamp by The Dear General himself—in fact the verdict has already been well decided and “chopped” (all that waits is either official delivery or statement to the press of the verdict”) and then their waiting for the US response which they hope will come in the form of some subterranean Western Kowtow visit to the DPRK by a Gore or a Carter or a Richardson to spring them, bearing appropriate quid pro quo US concessions; with these two girls, Kim knows he as a) a could of aces in his hands in the form of two liberal naive American kids out of liberal J school; and b) a liberal American president who is a push over and who will probably concede anything to the DPRK in order to get them back, even if it puts US troops and allies in risk in Tokyo and Seoul.

At any rate, one expects these two will indeed have a very tough time, they could get sent to Yodok at any moment—if they are lucky they will get pressed into international announcers for the international service of Radio Pyongyang in English, or as teachers at Amnokggang Miltary College or for the DPRK’s intelligence corps. Kim Jong-il is playing a game with these two; his intent (to paraphrase another Freepers) is to “rattle Obama’s cage to see if he gets the squirts.”

*Al Gore* May Visit North Korea For Detained Reporters (”Kowtow Mission” in the Making)

[AmericanInTokyo]
You cannot make this stuff up. Uh, lemme get this straight.....
1. Two American LEFTIST reporters go to North Korean border for a report. Are “taken prisoner”.

2. US State Dept., eager to capitulate to NK demands, considering sending AL GORE (the women’s boss) to Pyongyang on a Jimmy Carter/Bill Richardson-type kowtow mission, submitting weakly and defensively to North Korean blackmail—DPRK who holds all the cards and skillfully, once again, plays the Americans and their piss-poor negotiating tactics and lack of resolve, for huge saps.

3. Al Gore gets what he wants; release of his two liberal American reporters, and direct dialogue between North Korea and US begins—which is North Korea’s tactic

4. Japan and South Korea get the shaft in response, because the dangerous issue of North Korea is allowed to continue and something is given away in the negotiating process. Obama, Gore and Kim Jong il (who showed last minute “mercy”, all come out smelling like roses, CNN/MSNBC/New York Times goes wild.

5. The whole thing becomes a huge cause celebre among American liberals, reporters, student campuses, trendy coffee shops in San Francisco...all the while completely having ignored for years North Korea’s huge, across the board axis-of-evil ATROCITIES such as boiling people alive and filming it for Kim Jong il’s fun, or blowing up commercial airliners full of South Korean construction workers returning from the Middle East to Seoul....

6. Not a single Japanese or S. Korean kidnap victim, there much longer than these two Americans, ever gets released.

Like I said, you can not MAKE this stuff up.

Even one of the women’s sisters has stated the problem is that there is no direct diplomacy between North Korea and Washington. Anybody else out there suspicious about the timing of this, or questioning of the Obama State Department and liberaldom, appeasing Pyongyang, over the whole fiasco?

I know I smell a rat, even if the rat was developed midstream as a product of happenstance....

"I thought Gore went to get them out, with luck he went to prison camp with them!"

I really don't wish that kind of thing for anyone.

Now that I've assuaged my Christian conscience, how 'bout we just consign him (along with Biden Pelosi, Reid and the Usurper et al) to irrelevance on the ash heap of history?

This event has incredible parallels to the US Embassy seizure in Teheran by Iran during the weak Jimmy Carter presidency. Does anyone else see it as such?

It will take a strong Republican President, probably President Sarah Palin, having just sworn the executive oath, to force North Korea to give these girls up. They will have them out of North Korea and at Panmunjom walking across the DMZ in the Joint Security to the south into South Korea, 2013, before Sarah even finishes "so help me God". Not a minute before that...unless Washington ponies up some pretty mean cash for Pyongyang as part of the negotiated deal to get the Gulag Gore Girls out--which is now also a strong possibility.

They worked for Al Gore, didn't they? I heard they were "journalists" for Al Gore's FAKE NEWS network "current".

The journalists - working for former Vice President Al Gore’s California-based Current TV...

Chances are there will be two (or more) less votes for the RATS in future elections.......

Possibly algore could pony up $10 to $20 mil each for their release??

"Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday she was “incredibly concerned” about the plight of the two women. In working for their release, Clinton said she has spoken with foreign officials with influence in North Korea and explored the possibility of sending an envoy to the North, but suggested that no one would be sent during the trial."

Are you ficking kidding me? Perfect selection by Obami.

Johnson + Carter + Clinton + Obama = weakness in the eyes of the bad guys.

Sheesh, if the Earps had been so weak, they would have been destroyed by the Clantons and McLaurys and all their "cowboy" (cattle rustler) co-horts at the time. Instead, they showed strength and cut those frickers down once confronted, in according with the "law of the land". Don't even try to argue, I've read too many books about the Earps.

There are no Earps or Mastersons or Tilghmans or Hickocks left in this Country. We are governed by a bunch of Chamberlain wussy appeasers. Those guys may have been brutal, but that was the times. Still, we need the same kind of strength to this day, although with a little more finesse.

So what to do? Study, learn, and work for your own States' Rights. That's what the Earps did on a smaller scale. They tried to fit in and build a good peaceful productive and self-accountable life, but the bad element (cowboys) tried to stop them as the Earps fought for their small town rights and peace.

Wyatt Earp and the Masterson brothers fought for peace in the then anarchistic Dodge City. Virgil and Morgan Earp (Wyatt later) worked for it in a small town in Arizona. We all know how their efforts for peace and appeasement worked out. They had to destroy those who would not let them live and let live.

Point? Either fight against the bad guys or let them run rabid to the point of no return as almost happened in so many frontier towns. History repeats...no matter the era. Fight or lose everything that is dear. End rant.

Exactly! They are idiots. Journalists think these cutthroats are innocent victims of America so they go over there thinking they are going to be welcome, extend the hand of friendship and get it bitten off.

We have a 24/7 Narita (Tokyo) Airport Watch out for him. Unless of course he tries to come in through military aircraft, such as to Yokota AB, or Kunsan, and then onto China and up to DPRK.

Back when the West had cajones a government doing this would be considered an act of war.
Some nut job king in Ethiopia took British hostages during the Victorian era. Her Majesty’s government promptly sent an armed force under Sir Charles Napier to free them.
