In 2007, not long after he announced he was taking a year off from the Senate to run for president and move to Iowa, Democratic Sen. Christopher Dodd won the endorsement of the International Association of Fire Fighters. "I am honored that America's firefighters have put their trust in my leadership," he said. In March 2008, after his campaign had gone up in flames, the union still stood by their man and made him an honorary member. At the ceremony, you could hear Sen. Dodd's buttons pop: "For three decades, I've been proud to tell firefighters, 'I've got your back.' And I know they've always had mine."
Reporters recently gave Sen. Dodd a chance to demonstrate his leadership on labor issues and show IAFF members once again that he's got their back.
He was asked about Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor's participation in a ruling in a reverse-discrimination case in which IAFF members from New Haven, 17 whites and one Hispanic, were denied promotions in 2003 because city officials wanted to meet arbitrary racial quotas.
In 2008, a three-judge appellate panel that included Judge Sotomayor sided with the city in a terse opinion that has rankled many IAFF members.
The case has been in the news a lot lately because the Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal. Also widely reported is the stirring story of lead plaintiff and Dodd constituent Frank Ricci, a dyslexic who quit his second job to study for the test and paid an acquaintance $1,000 to read the textbooks onto audiotapes; Mr. Ricci finished sixth.
The case is important to the IAFF plaintiffs because win or lose, members will have to live with the outcome. And since the case arose in New Haven and raises serious constitutional issues, Connecticut voters have every right to expect their senior senator, who is the senior member of the Senate labor committee, would know the particulars and at the very least would have formed an opinion by now.
But when confronted by reporters, Sen. Dodd was clueless. As reported by Politico: "'Well, let me take a look at it more carefully — good question,' he said, laughing, as he ducked into the Democrats' weekly lunch in the Capitol."
This is leadership?
The latest Qunnipiac poll finds more than half of Connecticut voters think Sen. Dodd is dishonest and untrustworthy. They can add inattentive and disloyal to his list of shortcomings.

Listen up, morons. If you’re not permanently on the public dole, and you don’t plan on being permanently on the public dole, don’t put your trust in a Democrat.

The unions deserve everything they are NOT getting for backing liars and criminals.
Senator, have you no shame of leaving this beautiful state and it’s people to follow an empty ambition? Credit cards and sunscreen legislation is not going to win hearts and minds. Lower gas taxes, no tolls on Rt 95, return of real manufacturing, lower rental costs will win you our votes.

SATIRE In a rare moment of candor and self introspection, Sen Chris “Always Interested in Gifts” Dodd, Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, called Stoos Views today to confess that he is a “hypocritical, duplicitous no-good scam artist “ [sic] who has shaken down Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac, obtained preferential loans from Countrywide, and was the beneficiary of $103,000 in contributions from AIG, during his recent failed 2008 Presidential election campaign.
Dodd used his interview with Stoos Views to announce his upcoming second offer of resignation. “I think it is time for me to go. Even I cannot stand my own hypocrisy,” he told Stoos Views reporter Hugh Betcha, this week. “Here I am, in a position of public trust, taking enormous contributions from entities that I am supposed to regulate, and hoping no one would notice. Well, the public has found me out once again and I feel ashamed to be in the limelight. Let’s face it, I am a crooked politician and there is no arguing that."

Barney Frank got totally excited when Dodd said, "I think it is time for me to go down." Rahm Emanuel sprang into action. Rahm instructed Dodd to send a memo to Barney Frank: "Calm down, Barney, this is not what you think it is." Unfortunately, Rahm's message came too late. Barney had already left a message for Chris Dodd ......saying that he could not wait to see Dodd's (cough) package."
