Let me get this straight: in 2000 he was up to his ears in debt and couldn’t get a seat at the DNC, but in 2004 he was the keynote speaker and a shoo-in for the Senate, and in 2008 the great black hope?

Political handlers can perform miracles..
“Whats wrong with this picture?”
It’s success, Chicago-style!!/s;)
Somebody got behind, funded, and groomed this guy. Plain and simple. Lots of money, lots of influence.
...and even then, without the TOTUS, half the time his off the cuff speeches and comments are almost incomprehensible and so broken up as to be unintelligable.

There are lies in here somewhere. Who knows where, be my guess. But the whole truth isn’t being told...................Oh, I forgot — they’re dimocrats! They don’t know what the truth is!
Yes. It is all very disturbing.
Whats wrong with this picture?
Everything.
What’s wrong with that picture is that the buffoonish Alan Keyes was added to equation in 2004, guaranteeing Obama would win the Senate seat by a landslide without even bothering to campaign in Illinois. So instead, he whiled away the campaign season by running around the country serving as a very charismatic and effective speaker at fundraisers for *other* Democratic candidates. THAT is what shot him to political stardom so quickly. Remember that, next time people are trying to tell you how great it is that some wild-eyed religious/conservative fanatic is running on the Republican ticket for a national office. Sometimes unelectable candidates aren’t just unelectable, but also politically very, very damaging.
Sponsorship pays lots of bills and opens lots of doors.
