Schwarzenegger: Don't blame state budget deficit on illegal immigrants
Sacramento Bee ^ | 6/6/9 | Kevin Yamamura

Posted on 06/06/2009 10:04:47 AM PDT by SmithL

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday disputed claims that illegal immigrants caused California's $24.3 billion deficit, while he praised their economic contributions and said he is "happy" they have access to services.

The Republican governor, answering wide-ranging questions from The Bee's editorial board and its readers, also vented about roadblocks to his authority posed by political foes and warned that government can't sustain the current level of "unbelievable benefits" for public-sector workers.

In response to dozens of questions from readers who say the state ought to wipe out the deficit by eliminating services for illegal immigrants, the governor said it is a "myth" that those immigrants are to blame.

He said the cost of services to illegal immigrants, which has been estimated at $4 billion to $5 billion annually, is a "small percentage" of the deficit California faces.

"Yes, it is something that ought to be dealt with, but the fact of the matter is, I think it's an easy scapegoat for people to point the finger and say, 'Our budget is out of whack because of illegal immigrants.' "

"It's not," he added. "Our budget is out of whack because we have self-inflicted wounds that the Legislature and this state has never really sat down and had the will to go and make the necessary changes that have to be made."

And hospitals having to close that were overwhelmed by illegals using them as primary care. They didn’t have to close before.

This may be part of the long-term effects of those steroids on this poor fool.

I don't know if it was the past use of 'roids, or the fact that he's married to a member of the Kennedy Klan. She's got to be poisoning his mind.

Arnold, one of the "self inflicted" wounds is illegal immigration and your willing to bat an eye at, even by your own admission, something that makes up 20-25% of the deficit.

That is exactly the thinking and attitude that is screwing California.

With a mind like his, it wouldn’t take a whole lot of poison to do the job.

I believe that those Federal and State benefits, which many are collecting LEGALLY due to “birthright citizenship” may be a far bigger magnet than jobs.

Illegal aliens with anchor babies can easily become THREE or more income households with NO taxable or traceable income source.

So are the parks but he has no problem closing them down.

"Yes, it is something that ought to be dealt with..."

Soooo how would you propose to "deal with it"?

Add to the equation billions of US dollars sent south of the border by workers here, cash payments made under the table that are not taxed, and you're looking at a pretty substantial chunk of change. A lot more than thre $4B being claimed. The drag factor, on our economy, education, law enforcement, and services, is enormous.

Excellent deconstruction. We also have to factor in the extortion and hidden agendas---plus Azatlan looms over the horizon. Read on.

CONG TANCREDO TALKS WITH JUAN HERNANDEZ Juan Hernandez is a dual US-Mexico citizen (McCain's Hispanic outreach man). Hernandez heads up the Mexican govt's "Ministry of Mexicans Living in the US."

Hernandez told Cong Tancredo that the Mexican govt plans to increase the flow of Mexican nationals into the US.......... to serve Mexico’s needs:

(1) to increase $50B a year remittances (30% of Mexican GDP);

(2) to secure US employment for an exploding Mexican population,

(3) to alleviate Mexico's social instability;

(4) to force US taxpayers to provide free training and college degrees to Mexicans who are expected to return to Mexico with these skills.

Hernandez says Mexico demands amnesty b/c millions of Hispanics tied economically, politically and linguistically to Mexico can exert enormous influence on US.... that means billions of US tax dollars transferred to Mexico. US citizens will be forced to subsidize another failed foreign government.

===========================================

THE LATEST RIPOFF The Mexican govt is orchestrating the bogus "drug war".... creating a new class of illegals pouring into the US, claiming "persecution." The Mexican govt knows Social Security provides financial aid to "persecuted refugees" (created for individuals fleeing repressive govts---subsidizes Russian refugees).

SS checks to "persecuted refugees" can amount to $1000 a month...... and more. Keep in mind these people never paid a dime into the SS system; yet, they can collect seven years straight......and can get payments ad infinitum, if they are politically-connected.

The Mexican gov't is coaching its citizens to drain the US Treasury, to mooch off working class US taxpayers. Some "refugeees" get monthly Social Security checks are wealthy Mexican nationals whining about "persecution" in order to collect.

Most of this money is sent back to Mexico. The Mexican govt expects Mexican "refugees" to return to Mexico (as soon as they setup several identities to get multiple US checks coming in to Mexico monthly).
