Yeah, it's some weird masochistic thing... Somebody here at FR explained it to me a few years ago. American Jews vote overwhelmingly for the party that would disarm them, thereby making it easy for some future tyrant to herd them into the boxcars. It's absolutely inexplicable, but there you go.

Maybe there is something to the term “self hating Jew” after all. Why else would a group of people back a party that clearly biased against them while favoring an enemy that wants nothing more then to see all of them (the Jews) eradicated?
