Al Gore May Go to N. Korea to Free American Reporters
Fox News ^ | Friday, June 05, 2009 | Staff

Former Vice President Al Gore may be sent to North Korea to negotiate the release of two American journalists on trial, the AFP reported.

Laura Ling and Euna Lee, reporters for Gore's California-based Current TV, were arrested March 17 near the North Korean border while on a reporting trip to China on charges they entered the country illegally and engaged in "hostile acts" — allegations that could draw a 10-year sentence in a labor camp.

State Department spokesman Ian Kelly did not rule out the possibility of Gore being sent when asked if it would make sense for him to go.

"It's a very, very sensitive issue, I'm not going to go into it," Kelly told reporters. "This is such a sensitive issue, I'm just not going to go into those kinds of discussions that we may or may not have had," he said about whether Gore himself had raised the matter with the State Department.

Didn’t Al Gore renege on something fairly substantial toward the end of his political career? Not the kind of person I would have negotiating on my behalf...He can’t be trusted!

I feel for the Secret Service agents that must follow this cow around and protect him from physical harm. Now that I think of it, I wonder if Jimbo Peanutos team ever feel like they are guarding an empty suit.

If this is the right story, Al Gore is up to his neck in involvement with this. When Fox reported the story yesterday, they included how Gore was involved with the N. Koreans but it was such a fleeting statement it didn't register with me immediately. When I realized what they said, I said WTF????

He will don his superhero “G” suit with it’s green cape, fly to Pyongyang and single-handidly free those reporters from their bondage.

Oh please let this be a hostage exchange situation....but when you think about it maybe Al is just going there because North Korea is the only country truly living the lifestyle that he envisions we should all live. No cars, no factories, no smog, no industry, no elections, no electricity, no pollution...his perfect world.

North Koreans will get tired of Al Gore in about 30 seconds. I can hear it now.

Get out of here!
Get out now!
Prease, we cannot take your stupidity any longer!
Go! Go now! And take the reporters with you!

Given North Korea's difficulties, he may be "invited" to a barbeque.

Can we just trade Al Gore for the two reporters?

It would be a win-win situation and North Korea would get a lot of hot air.
