Bay State Gov. Deval Patrick blasted WTKK yakker Jay Severin on his own radio station today, calling his remarks about Mexicans “way over the line” - and said he was “embarrassed” to be associated with the Hub station.
Patrick - who skewered Severin during his monthly segment on Jim Braude and Margery Eagan’s WTKK-FM (96.9) show - said he was “disappointed” that the station let the right-wing host back on the air this week.
“I found Jay Severin’s comments on the air about Mexicans hateful and hurtful, really just way over the line and I was just as disappointed, frankly, that the station chose to let him resume broadcasting this week,” Patrick said.

...Severin called them “leeches” and the “lowest of primitives”. If he were referring to ALL mexicans it’s a bit much BUT, I thought freedom of speech covered all that. Now that he’s apologized, his show is over. He’ll have to walk gently etc. He may as well start asking people what their favorite ice cream is on the air. Exactly what Cadillac Patrick wanted!

I heard Jay’s original program, and even though I thought he was over the line, I KNEW he was not referring to EACH and EVERY Mexican on earth.
I have on rare occasion been unable to turn the station when Eagan and Himself go on the air, but quite frankly, tehy are as for over the edge to the LEFT as Jay was on the right.
When I listen to the “hate speech” directed FROM(!) the left, I always get the laugh of the day, when they whine about the VIRULENT speech coming from the right.
From the left come a hope that Rush Limbaugh’s kidneys fail, greeted by laughter and applause.

I grew up tuning out Jerry Williams and listening to Avi Nelson, NOW THAT was classic talk radio. The series of television debates where Avi kicked Jerry all over the studio was amazing and instructive.
Severin is wrong about Mexicans being the lowest of primitives...one only need visit the Great and General Court to see that there are no Mexicans in that body of the lowest of primitives in the Communistweal of Massholachusetts.
Avi was a late comer, but at least you had a choice.

If he’s talking about illegal aliens, he’s right on the money. These A**HOLES all need to be deported.
It was quite a rant. I’m sure the full text is online. The worst bit though was about Mexicans being the lowest form of primitives and leeches. Racism to the extreme.

...Severin deserved it!? Because he gave his opinion?! This is the problem with the issue of “free speech” in this country today. We dillute it a little more each day with “tolerance” and “diversity”. Libs say they’re worried about hurting people’s feelings etc. This kind of incremental reduction in what can and can’t be said will reduce us to nothing but cooking and decorating shows!
The radio station has the right to suspend, fire whatever on their own discretion. If his ratings are good, great! If not, hit the road. If listeners don’t like what they hear, they can turn it off. It’s very simple.
If he's referring to illegals he's about 99% correct. I would also add "atrociously ill-mannered".
Obviously this would be incorrect referring to Americans of Mexican descent, many of whom have a longer history in America than most Americans. But they're not "Mexicans", they're Americans !
But the liberals will lump them all together to make him look as bad as possible. He should have just said "Illegals" and left it at that.

What in the world are you talking about? No one has called for any infringement upon Severin’s right to be a racist.
However, he did deserve what he got from his employer. He did deserve the scathing condemnation for Patrick, and he deserves more down the pike. It’s a wonderful system because the rest of us have the right of free speech to call Severin down in turn.
