James Kirchick, Assistant Editor of the "New Republic," argues that "in the coming days, we will hear more about how mainstream conservative organizations and media personalities created an 'environment' in which the murder of an abortion doctor became an inevitability. Just as talk radio was blamed for the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, an attempt will be made to extend the guilt for this crime from the individual who pulled the trigger to the conservative movement writ large. But the Christian right's responsible reaction to the death of George Tiller should put to rest the lie that Judeo-Christian extremists are anywhere near as numerous or dangerous as those of the Muslim variety." Kirchick pointed out the Mike Hendricks of the Kansas City Star has already accused "anyone who had criticized Tiller as a murderer (Tiller aborted healthy, nine-month old fetuses) of being an 'accomplice' to his death." The fact remains that soon after late-term abortionist George Tiller was killed, a soldier standing outside a recruiting office was murdered by a convert to Islam opposed to the U.S. military. George Tiller's death has become a story that the media has become fixated upon and continued to report day after day. Yet the story of an Islamoterrorist attack against U.S. soldiers on American soil only merits the coverage of an everyday news story that passes quickly as the next story arises.
The reason for this seems clear to me. Focusing on the killing of George Tiller, a killing which represents a very rare occurence, is a method to partially blame the Christian "religious right" for the murder, and to paint all of the "religious right" with a wide brush as being extremists. It allows the perception that an underbelly of Christian fanatacism is to blame for the killing. If the media were to focus on the killing of the U.S. soldiers it would be viewed as creating the same perception about another religious group, that being Muslims. To focus on the killing of American soldiers by a convert to Islam might be viewed as painting all Muslims with a wide brush as being extremists and fanatics. Political correctness has determined that to be verboten. Christians, of course, are not to be held to that same standard.
Both killings were acts of domestic terrorism.
Why? Why is Obama a Socialist?
Obama had no moral upbringing, no one to guide his life.
His mother, father, and grandparents were all atheists.
Act 1: Somali Pirates
Act 2: Islamic loyalty
Its the Obama Show!
We all live under a leader that has advertised his true loyalty.
All the politicians can suck up to him but they better be prepared to pray six times a day towards Mecca!
Asking why is pointless. We all know the answer. Instead, just state ho the disparate treatments of these two incidents are part of the overwhelming proof that the mainstream media is left-wing and anti-American, and that Obama is left-wing and anti-American.
a good start is mentioning Tiller six times in your article, but only refer to Pvt William Long as “a soldier”, and not one single time by name.
The subtle inference being that Tiller is vastly more important than Long; he has an “identity”, while the murdered soldier shall remain nameless and faceless.
This is a tried and true MSM tactic; a process of dehumanization used repeatedly when a murder victim does not fit a special “protected” category, as defined by leftist ideology.
Soldiers in those recruitment centers are probably not allowed to have weapons in any shape or form, and they are not given any additional protection from the feds?
WTH?
I made no such inference. I did not refer to the soldier by name because, sadly, I did not know him by name. The article was expressing my reaction to mainstream media coverage. I readily admit that I do know the abortionist by name as does everyone else who even slightly follows the news. I did not need to do any research to find out his name, it was drilled into my mind by the MSM. Yet the MSM barely made mention of William Long. That is in fact exatctly my point. Why is that I know the name of George Tiller and not the name of William Long? That is exactly the sorry state of affairs my article discusses. My article is certainly not part of some “MSM tactic” as it seeks to point out the clear anti-Christian bias in the media coverage.
I posted that issue on my website: http://www.stevelackner.com/2009/06/attorney-general-directs-us-marshals-to.html
God be with us and our military, because 0bama sure as heck is not.
The "anti-war" left might call the soldier a "baby killer", but they're always full of crap.
When Tiller is called a baby killer those saying so are right tens of thousands of times over.
The two killings are not the exact same in my mind. One has already resulted in many saved lives that the POS would have killed had his "Auschwitz for Babies Abortuary" not been closed for a few days due to his demise.
I'd say both acts were religious killings or 'holy war' one by a radical islamist and one by a radical Christian. Being a Christian I tend to side with the one and not the other. And any who don't like that I'm happy that the baby incinerators weren't running today because of Tillers trip to Hell, can stuff it where the sun don't shine. Some Christians pray and pray and pray while some pray and then battle the forces of Evil.
Half of Kansas opposed Tiller and couldn't get him stopped. Scott Roeder singlehandedly stopped him forever.
As Our President Andrew Jackson said "One man with courage makes a majority."
“Murder Of U.S. Soldier Recieves Much Less Coverage Than Killing Of An Abortionist Doctor. Why?”
Easy.
Baby killers good in the eyes of the Mainstrean media and current Goverment.
American Military men and women bad in the eyes of the Mainstream media and current Government.
Hell,Obama probably jumped up and down for joy and put the murderer on his pardon list.
This shows where their values are and should be pointed out at every opportunity.
A man who has a career killing babies is celebrated in death while the murder of a young American soldier who volunteered to serve to fight for our rights and to protect the weak is ignored.
” is a method to partially blame the Christian “religious right” for the murder...”
No thinking Christian will accept anything from these goosestepping fascists and communists in the MSM. If anything, the story is dropping off the pages as “moderates” are informed of the butchery committed by “doctors” like Tiller. The more that fence-sitting people are told of this “procedure” done by Tiller, the more likely it is that these people will join the pro-life side.
This is a losing issue for the left.
“Both killings were acts of domestic terrorism”
True. But the important part here is that the leftist scum in this country (Including the President) is much more concerned about the murder of the abortion Dr. than the Soldier. This is quite easy to see.
