A new poll of the potential 2012 GOP primary field from CNN/Opinion Research Corp. shows a log jam of three candidates at the top. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, and current Alaska Governor Sarah Palin are in a statistical dead heat according to the survey conducted May 14-17 with a 4.5% margin of error:

Huckabee 22 Palin 21 Romney 21 Gingrich 13 Jeb Bush 6 Someone Else 10

In related news, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, who announced today he would not be seeking a third term, dodged questions today about running in 2012 while adding that he believes the GOP needs "new ideas and new faces."

You need to get more in touch with reality.”

The ignorance is irritating with these folks.

Yeah, joining a club of arrogant morons is a real resume' enhancer.

I don't see her as President, and don't want her to run.

Did you sleep through the GOP primary last year?

No, did you? Giuliani killed himself with his all or nothing Florida strategy. He won't make that mistake again.

Who can win elections? Romney has one electoral victory, he served one term, did poorly and could not win reelection. Romney loses elections, he doesn’t win them.

People like you forget that voters don’t like the man, that is why he couldn’t even hold his own against the weakest field that any of us has ever seen, during the 2008 primary.

You need to get more in touch with reality.

The reality is that Mormonism is a cult.

Get in touch with that.

Huckabee is not on my list of favorites. I don’t have confidence in his economic policies. I’m leaning towards Mark Sanford. But I would definitely vote for Huck should he be the nominee. Heck, I’d vote for Soupy Sales, Bozo The Clown, you name it, if they were running against Obama.

If she goes to the Senate and becomes one of “them” she loses 75% of her appeal to me.

She is perhaps one of the few candidates that has proven that she won't succumb to the establishment.

And they know it. Hence their fear and loathing of all things Sarah.

A poll by CNN? I’d be leary of results from any poll by CNN. Who are the poll-ees? If CNN viewers, then this poll is worthless. If they were cold-calling, then a little more credibility.

Huck’s a hack — smarmy, slick, and mealy-mouthed. Not sure about Romney. Love Sarah still.

Not only no but FRACK no. I'm so sick and tired of anyone here or anywhere else treating the Senate like it's some mandatory step to the presidency. Are you out of your freakin' mind? Next to the UN the US Senate is the most corrupt political entity in the WORLD. Palin has no business wasting her time there.

Palin not win a Presidential election. Going to the Senate and actually getting something done there like she did as Governor would be a good thing. It's amazing that we all want a Conservative in the White House but don't worry about their presence, or lack thereof, in the Senate.

Sarah is tied with Romney but isn’t mentioned in the headline. Funny, that.

Perhaps it's always been this way, but certainly in the modern, post-tv era, Presidential politics is nothing but a popularity contest.

Ideological, philosophical and policy positions aside, none of those three can beat Barack Obama, even if the economy is a little worse in 2012.

BINGO!!!
