Washington Post: President Barack Obama suggested that Iran may have some right to nuclear energy - provided it proves by the end of the year that its aspirations are peaceful.

In a BBC interview broadcast Tuesday, he also restated plans to pursue direct diplomacy with Tehran to encourage it set aside any ambitions for nuclear weapons it might harbor. Iran has insisted its nuclear program is aimed at generating electricity.

But the U.S. and other Western governments accuse Tehran of seeking atomic weapons.

"What I do believe is that Iran has legitimate energy concerns, legitimate aspirations," Obama said, adding that the international community also "has a very real interest" in preventing a nuclear arms race.

This goon is certifiable.

Oh the irony of it all. Obama is a fool and a phony-a pansy of epic proportions. We won’t be nuclear plants here...but sure let’s go ahead and let the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism have free reign because of their energy concerns. LOL...oh my.

I think your buddy-buddy picture of Ahmadinejad and Obama's meeting is way off base.
You have it all wrong.

Their meeting will be more like this:

But you, as an American citizen do not have the right to openly criticize the stimulus plan, nor eventually own an SUV with less than 35mpg.

So, the US utilities have a right to start building more nuclear plants?

What'a B0z0.

He’s right. Iran is a sovereign nation and has every right to pursue both nuclear power and nuclear weapons.

What Iran forgets is that we too are a sovereign nation - and we reserve the right to shoot first and ask questions later.

That was the real secret of Bush’s success and an unsung achievement of the Iraq war. He introduced the Islamic nuts to the uncertainty that maybe - just maybe - the US was going to shoot first.

Of course, that’s all going down the drain now.

Actually, if you think about it long enough...any country...even Mexico, Albania, and Togo...have the right to have nuclear power. I suspect by 2100...over forty countries will have nuclear power (the Green folks will goof up on this carbon enough that we have no choice but go nuclear power).

The next step...to nuke weapons...is just an inch beyond the nuclear power power...and thats the key issue. How the Saudis can just stand there and say nothing...kinda hints strongly that they already have the weapons in their possession and aren’t worried.

Well, Zero has let Nutjob know he can roll him before they even meet. At least Kruschev met with Kennedy before he figured out he could roll him.

High Enriched Uranium is not needed for nuclear power plants. It is needed for weapons. That's what the fuss about gas centrifuges was all about.

They have oil. For less than the weapons program they could have built many refineries. They never wanted nuclear power in the first place.

If you go read up on Iran...this is the country that has done the worst job of any country with oil in its own backyard...building refineries. Gas ought to plentiful, and it’s not. I was reading last year...if you went to the typical citizen in Iran and asked for one single improvement...it would be cheaper fuel and plentiful.
