LONDON -- President Barack Obama suggested that Iran may have some right to nuclear energy _ provided it proves by the end of the year that its aspirations are peaceful.

"What I do believe is that Iran has legitimate energy concerns, legitimate aspirations," Obama said, adding that the international community also "has a very real interest" in preventing a nuclear arms race.

Israeli General Baidatz: Iran may have material for nukes this Year

By the end of the summer, Teheran could have enough low-grade uranium to build a nuclear bomb, Brig.-Gen. Yossi Baidatz, head of Military Intelligence’s research division, warned the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Monday....

Baidatz’s comments those of his boss, OC Military Intelligence Maj.-Gen. Amos Yadlin, who told the committee last month that “Iran is intentionally advancing its nuclear development in such a way so as not to cross any nuclear red lines, by enriching low-grade uranium that is not sufficient for weapons development, but that can quickly be adapted to weapons-grade uranium in such a short period of time that the process can’t be sabotaged.”

Actually, I really think you’ve got a significant part of why he wanted the presidency. The rest of the reason is to use the US to put his ideals to the test.
