Slain abortionist mourned as 'martyr'

Slain abortionist mourned as 'martyr'
Liberal clerics host memorials

The Rev. Rob Schenck leads a prayer before a press conference outside the Supreme Court on Monday, the day after an abortion doctor was slain in Wichita, Kan. Mr. Schenck's fellow pro-life activists, Matt Lockett (left), director of Bound4Life, and the Rev. Patrick Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition, joined him in denouncing the slaying.

Liberal religious groups joined secular pro-choice organizations Monday to mourn as a martyr one of the country's most famous providers of late-term abortions.

A nationwide network of candlelight vigils and services took place from Lafayette Park in the District to Pioneer Courthouse Square in Portland, Ore., and from Union Square in New York to Millennium Plaza in Yakima, Wash.

Hundreds of people were expected to gather at each locale to mourn Sunday's fatal shooting of Dr. George Tiller on the grounds of his Lutheran church in Wichita, Kan. He was one of a handful of doctors in the country who did abortions after the sixth month of pregnancy.

St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in Boston held an evening memorial service where the Very Rev. Katherine Ragsdale, president of Episcopal Divinity School in nearby Cambridge, was one of several scheduled speakers.

"This is about the loss of a man who was a saint and a martyr," she said in an interview before the service. "He was a prayerful man who put his life at risk to protect others and died for it. People are in shock, outrage and mourning. They need a place to go."

This demonstrates the insanity and evil of the left.

No one condones murder, but to call a murderer a "saint" and a "martyr" is ridiculous.

Meanwhile, the left goes bonkers everytime a criminal is executed on death row. But, they celebrate the slaughter of millions of children.

Moreover, the killing of a late-term abortionist warrants statements of condemnation from the President, the Justice Dept, and Congress - but when an Army soldier was murdered by a Black Muslim yesterday, there was silence.

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil."

Isaiah 5:20

It won’t be long before stained glass windows and statues are in churches to venerate this new “saint”.

He is a martyr. A martyr for a death cult.

I'm sorry he was killed. That was a crime and wrong by any standard. It is also true that this man was a mass-murderer

Here's the pro-murder of babies Episcopal 'priest' and one of the main reasons most members are leaving.

She is an American Progressive, and is a priest at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Pepperell , part of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts.

Ragsdale has served for 17 years on the national board of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice. She is also on the board of NARAL Pro-Choice America, The White House Project, the Progressive Religious Partnership, as well as the bi-national advisory board of The Center for the Prevention of Sexual and Domestic Violence.

She presented to the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary on behalf of NARAL Pro-Choice America and the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice in 2004.

She has been named the new president and dean of Episcopal Divinity School, according to an announcement by Brett Donham, chair of EDS’s board of trustees, on March 30, 2009.

more from article

A group of religious leaders, several of them on President Obama's faith advisory council, denounced the attack Monday morning as an attack on all religions.

"Such violence is an affront to the teachings of all faith traditions and an attack on civil society,"

At the risk of a Captain Obvious award, I'll mention the deafening silence on Tiller's affront to the the teachings of the Greatest Teacher...the part about not offending the little ones. It's the part about getting cast into the sea with a millstone about the neck.

How can these people look themselves in the mirror? Hearts of stone.

From the article:

“”This is about the loss of a man who was a saint and a martyr, she said in an interview before the service. He was a prayerful man who put his life at risk to protect others and died for it. People are in shock, outrage and mourning. They need a place to go.”

I know exactly where they’re going, and they won’t be stopping in purgatory.

I think the Big Guy is a lot angrier than he was at the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Marty? A man who kills birthed or birthable infants is a martyr?????????? Hell really is too good for them.

wow a "martyr".

well lets make a 10 foot pile of dead full term babies at the base of the church and burn them to honor this martyr. About 60,000 babies should do it.

Yeah, that would be a great tribute to this martyr.

Pile up 60,000 babies, put his coffin on top and hold a mass to honor his great achievements then set it on fire.

Or better yet, dig a pit. Fill it with 60,000 live babies that are full term, put the coffin on top of them and then fill it up with dirt. Build a statue of him playing with all the babies on top and annually bury some kids alive to honor him.

I'm sad for this guys family. I don't think that murdering him was the correct thing, but to canonize him might be over the top. But of course we're talking about the MSM and it religion of death.

I feel no obligation to be more respectful of Dr. Tiller now that he was murdered by someone who isn’t protected by some hidden “constitutional-right” to commit murder.

The murder of the doctor was wrong.

The word martyr lost its meaning with the Islamists. So in the same usage that a Mujahid is a martyr, so is the doctor. In the sense of a Christian martyr, he could have not been any further from the traditional definition. One definition involves terrorists who kill others. The other is a true martyr.

And to put an even finer point on it, the word millstone in Matthew 18:6 is mylos (that’s a transliteration from the Greek), which means one of the extremely large and heavy stones that have to be turned by an ox or an ass to mill grains. They weigh thousands of pounds.

IOW, there ain’t no way you’re not going where it’s going if it’s tied around your neck. And it’s going down.

Tiller wasn’t a saint; he was a vile man. God, though the Psalmist in Psalm 15:4 tells us how we are to view a man like him:

“In whose eyes a vile person is contemned”

Thank you for sharing the Isaiah 5:20 verse—I despise the fact that this is coming true for me and my husband, but also for our three children.

I am having such a hard time reconciling this event. Like many of you, part of me says “He got what he deserved.” The Holy Spirit part of me says, “Eternal separation from God is what EVERYBODY deserves.”

Thank you, Jesus, for your redeeming work.

I wonder if the 60,000 precious little ones that the provider murdered will be welcoming him into heaven or will the burning lake of fire be his first smell upon resuming consciousness.
