Sarah Palin's Statement on Tiller Murder
Facebook ^ | 6/01/09 | Sarah Palin

Posted on 06/01/2009 8:37:48 AM PDT by rintense

"I feel sorrow for the Tiller family. I respect the sanctity of life and the tragedy that took place today in Kansas clearly violates respect for life. This murder also damages the positive message of life, for the unborn, and for those living. Ask yourself, 'What will those who have not yet decided personally where they stand on this issue take away from today's event in Kansas?'

Regardless of my strong objection to Dr. Tiller's abortion practices, violence is never an answer in advancing the pro-life message."

Governor Sarah Palin

There were only a few of us, yesterday, who tried to be the voice of reason.

I am sure she will catch heat from freepers, too, because of her statement.

Only the cretins.

For instance what is our duty if we were in a room with Dr Tiller and a woman 8 months pregnant when Tiller grabs the foreceps?... I know the question is tough but life ain't easy sometimes.

In your hypothetical is what Tiller doing legal and is the eight month pregnant woman there of her own volition?

That has actually happened more than once. I know of two surgeries, one was a baby boy and one a baby girl. In one of the surgeries, it was the photographer who had a change of heart, when he witnessed—and photographed—the baby clasp her tiny hand around the tip of the surgeon’s finger.

I believe the more advanced ultra sounds have changed a lot of hearts and minds about abortion. They see with their own eyes that it is definitely a baby, no matter the spin and objections from places like Planned Parenthood and “doctors”, such as Tiller.

What Tiller just got was a fourth term abortion

Thank you, I totally agree with you & Sarah.

Governor Palin is exactly right in every respect in her statement. I would be exceedingly surprised if any MSM covers it.

This isn’t about my hope. If he had any, I feel sorry for his children...especially when they find out what a partial birth abortion is and find out daddy was paying the mortgage with them.

I am pro life and don’t support the death penalty. I surely don’t support murder. That said, murderers get murdered every day...I won’t defend him or say I feel sorry for the wife living in the house paid for by the abortions, either.

I express my grief for the late term babies he killed.

Do not play God. That is not your job.

Certainly not playing God by asking a tough moral question. Here, I'll make it easier for you. If the baby is 8 months old but post natal and somebody is about to kill it with Mom's consent what is our duty if we are there?

I like Sarah alot, but she is falling for one of the left's oldest tricks. Neither she, I, yourself, or any other pro-lifer or conservative is under any obligation to decry, condemn or distance themselves from the the killing of this individual. We had nothing to do with it. We did not kill him. I had nothing to do with it, You had nothing to do with it, Bill O'Reilly had nothing to do with it, Sarah Palin had nothing to do with it. FreeRepublic had nothing to do with it.

I will not condemn or decry it. I don't have to, and I would be a hypocrite if I did because I don't feel it. Pro-lifers should not be defensive about this at all, and I wish Sarah would not have taken the bait.

I disagree. Every one of us should distance ourselves from a lunatic like this, especially in light of his previous convictions. Sarah played it right.

You are right there, I am actually feeling relief that no more babies will die due to actions of Tiller. For that matter, Tiller may actually be relieved

Nope. Sarah needs greater depth on national and international issues.
That larger understanding is required when you are the final decision maker.

Well, no one expected Sarah to say anything different, I'm sure. She is a politician, after all. It would be political suicide to say anything other than what she said.

However, the brevity of her message and the fact she doesn't note that she feels sorry for Tiller (on the contrary, she indicates her strong objection to Tiller's abortion practices) is evidence that she is in a difficult position and needs to walk a fine line.  And that's fine - I understand.  The bottom line is that she is strongly pro-life.

Having said that, I'm not running for any political office, and I'm not bound by the conventions of political correctness. I too am against violence and murder, but I applaud the death of mass murderers like Hitler, Mussolini, and any other murdering tyrant - and if it wasn't for the American military we would all be speaking German.

Though on a much smaller scale, Tiller was also a murderer. I didn't wish him dead, nor did I pull the trigger or was part of a conspiracy to cause his death.  But I will not equate the life of a murderous thug, whose coffers were filled with blood money, with the precious lives of the young victims he systematically crushed to death.

Sometimes the fight for the rights of the unborn needs more than a tame message, which usually falls on the politicians' deaf ears. Sometimes the unborn needs someone to shake things up... to snap people out from their comfort zone, so they will listen to their cries for help, and their fight to live.
