US president Barack Obama has said he is shocked and outraged at the murder of a top doctor who performed late-term abortions.

Dr George Tiller, the object of decades of protests and attacks, was shot dead in front of his wife in a Kansas church where he was serving as an usher.

A 51-year-old man was arrested 170 miles away in Kansas City three hours after the shooting on Sunday.

Johnson County sheriff's spokesman Tom Erickson identified the suspect as Scott Roeder.

I suspect that most people don’t know about the “Summer of Mercy” protests that went on in Wichita in 1991 - of which this ‘doctor’ was a key target. During that summer, tens if not hundreds of thousands of anti-abortion protesters converged on that city. Thousands got arrested. It was protests and arrests on the scale of the Civil Rights and Vietnam levels, a level not seen since those events and very rarely before those events.

Yet a near-complete media blackout. I was in Los Angeles at the time, reading the LA TImes, and they would have a 2-paragraph AP snippet on Page 16 about 150 people getting arrested on one day, then the next day, 2 paragraphs about 83 people being arrested, then maybe 125 people the next day.

Those are HUGE numbers of people to get arrested...but not a peep on the evening news, the radio, a near-perfect news blackout.

The blackout of media reports was one of the scariest things I ever saw in what is supposed to be a free country. It was like North Korea.

...and heck, I’ve never done anything (myself) to oppose abortion, except vote Republican. The reporting that summer still gives me the creeps.

Frankly I’m surprised a church would allow him serve in any position given his obvious disagreement with the most basic of Christian doctrines.

This is one of those "secular humanism" churches that flies false colors, IIRC.

I agree.

All he needs is an on-ramp and a highway. He can cruise at the going speed - 70 MPH.

And the press certainly rounded off the 3 hours. Perhaps it was 3 hours and 10 minutes.

Apparently this guy was being watched already.

you could say this execution was performed because the state didn’t do their jobs and put him away the legal way.

You have no idea how close to the truth you have come. Dr. Tiller was breaking the Kansas law in order to perform late term abortions. Early term abortions were allowed. But he wanted to do the late ones.

While the district attorney was trying to stop Tiller's late term abortions, it became apparent that Dr. Tiller, Planned Parenthood and their attorneys sat down in a basement somewhere and dummied up some medical records, because they knew that if they had submitted the actual subpoenaed records, they were dead meat. So, they made them up. They knew girls as young as 10 were showing up pregnant and getting abortions, but no one asked who had brought them to this pregnant state. Father? Uncle? Brother? 25 year old boyfriend? Any one of these situations should have been reported as a sexual crime. But it never happened. This is called fraud. This is called perjury.

Had the Kansas City Star and the Democratic Party, led by now Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, held Tiller responsible for the fraud and perjury crimes, Dr. Tiller might today be sitting in the safety of a state or federal prison. But the KC Star was determined to provide a merkin to Dr. Tiller. Because Kathleen Sebelius and the Kansas Democratic Party was raking in so much money from ProKanDo, they absolutely had no interest in curtailing his activities. He was like a money fountain to her.

Never mind what happened to the 10 year old girls who had been statutorialy raped or any of the viable babies that were tossed aside to die.

They were only small sacrifices that had to be made.

Our preacher gave a sermon last week about being “Under” our rulers - the give unto Ceaser thing. However, Paul also talks about how the rulers punish those that do wrong, and reward those that do good.

What happens when it is the evil-doers that are rewarded??

I appreciate you trying to explain this through theology, but in the end, the prosecutor was trying to get Tiller on fraud and perjury charges - for him and his attorneys and Planned Parenthood. The msm refused to understand the change in the nature of the case. All the media could scream was: The Prosecutor wants to punish women for having abortions! He wants to throw pregnant women and sainted doctors (Tiller) in jail. What he wanted to do was expose the fraud, perjury and sexual abuse that was taking place. If the state wanted to ignore infanticide, he could live with that, because it was a politically charged issue and the fraud, perjury and sexual abuse are easier to prove in the political environment. You choose your battles.

Generally, Obama likes, and even befrieds political murderers and thugs. But this is the wrong kind of political murder and he’s mad as hell and not going to take it anymore!

But this is AP and exaggeration to make those on the Right appear to be extremist is their hallmark. Leftist propaganda at its best here folks.

So correct. The perfect situation to vilify Christians, and everyone who dare point out the left's evil, perverted, illogical and nihilistic thinking.

They have to divert attention from the true evil ones until they have total control over every aspect of our lives. Then the true death camps will appear and I am sure O would have used Tiller for his gulags. I am sure O is extremely outraged by Tiller's death because he would have used him to exterminate the people who dare question "the one".

“If the state wanted to ignore infanticide, he could live with that...”

I guess this is what I was referring to - the whole larger picture, not just this case of Tiller. And WHEN do I, as a Christian, not allow myself to be “put under” a form of government?

I look at the Declaration of Indepenence as a good guideline. There are quite a few of those issues from way back when upon us today. (Many have been upon us for a long time.)

I'm sorry, I really don't understand what you are trying to say to me.

Please try to explain it to me like I was a third grader (which, I may be).

Very curious that the post-racial president who wants to heal the entire nation of all political evil, has to insert himself into the death of a midwestern doctor of small stature. He is above this. He is el Presidente!

I probably picked a poor example to post to, but it seems to fit for me.

As I said, our preacher was talking about how Paul said we need to be ruled by our leaders as God put them in a position of power. (He also talked about the opposite of that idea with regards to Moses and the Pharoah, the Babylonians, our Founding Fathers, etc.)

But, one of the things Paul wrote was something like that governments are put in place by God to punish the bad guys and reward the good guys.

So, as a Christian I look at that tidbit as my “way out” of not having to look at the Obama Administration as “being put there by God” and to be ruled under it. Not very Christian I suppose to be looking for the way out, but...

Of course Abortion has been the law of the land for a long time. Abortion clinics are protected, laws are passed, etc. In my opinion, and from what I can understand from the Bible, probably God’s opinion too - Abortion is evil. I don’t know if I would go so far as saying abortion doctors are evil - but they are “evil-doers”. And our government rewards them.

I guess your comment regarding if the govenment had taken care of this abortion doctor this other guy wouldn’t have had to was what prompted my thoughts.

Perhaps my thoughts aren’t so clear to myself - much less trying to explain to someone else! I just find it hard to believe that an Obama administration was placed there by God. Except perhaps in the form of a punishment against us.

And like Hitler had his Reichstag fire, this type of incident, not necessarily this incident, could be planned to light a fire against Zero's opposition.
I said the same thing on another thread regarding this murder.

It smells like a Reichstag fire to me.

I can almost hear Obama saying, "I love the smell of murdered abortionists in the morning. It smells like... victory!"

Same reason all the Mafioso attend our Mass. Pay the church long enough and they tend to make the Sacrament of Reconciliation a little easier.

Thank you for the nice welcome.

I guess I just can’t get past the extreme oddity of a president officially commenting on the murder of a non-governmental, private person by another private person.

The fact of the murder of a well-known abortionist who was protected by the governor of his state, a governor who is now Obama’s secretary of Health and Human Services, and the official commentary from Obama on the murder, all coming on the heels of the recent reports of polls that show pro-lifers now exceed pro-abortionists, is just a bit too coincidental for me.

Jesus also said go and sin no more he did not say sin all you want and I will forgive you....this person sinned every day by murdering innocent little children.. I do not condone what happened in that so called church but I also do not condone the murder of little babies by sucking their brains out and crushing their heads to get the baby out of the mother..Only God can and will punish this evil person..
