The suspect in this morning's fatal shooting of George Tiller is in custody, according to emergency dispatchers.
Authorities have yet to release more information about the arrest. Wichita police have scheduled a 4 p.m. news conference to discuss the case.
Police had said they were looking for white male who was driving a 1990s powder blue Ford Taurus with Kansas license plate 225 BAB. The vehicle is registered to an owner in Merriam, which is in the Kansas City area.
Wichita police Capt. Brent Allred said that several law enforcement agencies -- including the FBI and the KBI -- have been called in to help with the case.
"This is going to be a larger search than probably maybe just Wichita that we're looking for this individual," Allred said. "So we've got the resources coming in to help us with this investigation."
Allred said that no one else was injured in the shooting. He would not say how many shots were fired. He said it's unclear whether the shooter exchanged any words with the victim.
"We've got several people going downtown," Allred said. "This is going to be an investigation that is going to take a little while to get some of that information out."

“Why is the FBI in on a local murder? Do they investigate every murder in Chicago or DC?”
I know the FBI would be involved if it was a crime that involved interstate travel. I think the FBI would come if asked by the local LEOs. Maybe Wichita called them in? Or maybe the KBI gave them a call?

Ok, its obvious this guy is an anti-abortionist, not to be confused with a pro-lifer.
Hes not pro-life. If he was, he wouldnt have committed murder.
Important distinction!

The homicide rate lowers as your income goes up providing you arent a rapper. Doctors for the most part work in environments with plenty of security, are more likely to live in neighborhoods far removed from crimes, etc etc.
Most specialists are in urban areas. That would increase their percentage.
Ive searched and searched and can find very few news stories of a physician being murdered, and none current.
First page on the google, suprising with all the stories about this event.

My bad, that wasn’t a national number. I have 2.6 as the number per 1000 nation wide. That would mean if murder were evenly divided, 41 of your victims would likely be doctors. However, once you factor in the occupations with extremely high homicide rates such as cabbies, there isn’t much room left. I can’t even find physicians on a table.

NO ONE knows why this doctor was shot. We can all make assumptions and quite valid ones, HOWEVER, we will not know the reasons until someone is indicted for this crime.

I couldn't find any doctor specific (not suprisingly) statistics either. I put a question mark behind my initial statement. After reading further I think it's safe to say dozens.

This murder is a “Reichstag fire” incident that will play into the hands of the pro-aborts and justify the placement of pro-lifers on terrorist lists. It could not have happened at a more opportune time for the Left and the Obama administration as they promote issues like gun control, hate crimes, and cyberbullying laws.

Can’t be. I constructed a simple mathematical model, and once you take the top 10 occupations out of the total, eliminate the percentage attributed to domestic violence, likewise with the percentage related to criminal enterprises (crime on crime violence such as drug dealers, gang-bangers etc) there simply isn’t a reasonable probability that it’s even a dozen, let alone dozens. A more complex model with more variables would only lower the possibility. Mathematically, if you were to remove the possibility of docs murdered by spouses, I’d say that you’re looking at a ratio of years between murdered physicians not physicians murdered per year.

I understand you disagree with me. You think doctors are immune to societal ills for some reason. That link I posted above was on the first page in a google search.
Dated today.
That's two in one day.
I don't want to argue this all night. Read the article maybe peruse google news search for 30 seconds.

Dude, the article you posted about a doctor who was killed is about a doctor who was in India. Read the dateline: Indore, May 31. Which is a city in Madhya Pradesh.

Isn’t it an alleged suspect in connection with an alleged slaying?

You'd think that even an amateur assassin would know to use or stolen car or to make their escape on a bicycle. Easier than stealing a car would be to unscrew a plate from a parked car that looked like yours.

On the other hand, if it turns out the guy who killed Tiller is a Muslim well get to see some very interesting media spin on this one, eh? Remember how fast the DC sniper story fell off the radar when the captured sniper turned out to be a Black Muslim with ties to Farrakhan?

I did a search for 'carpenter murdered', 'lawyer murdered' etc. If you want to scare someone away from the hospital show them the 'nurse murdered' results. Homocides, outside of the workplace, are not categorized by profession. Searching is difficult, unless they do late term abortions. If they are an icon of the left you will be deluged with results.
Further reading if you have the time and/or interest.
The epidemic of health care worker injury A little old yes, but quite relevant. This is only 'on the clock'. These people don't crawl into hobbit holes at night. I've got more links but the general concept remains.

In this case the cops have said they will “investigate thoroughly” the perp’s family, friends, associations, and online activity. They will be casting a very wide net.
