General Motors Corp. said Friday that it plans to reopen a shuttered U.S. factory to build compact cars that will likely be the smallest vehicles GM has ever produced here.

You forget the coercive influence of the government.
They can make it nearly impossible for you to afford to own and drive your vehicle of choice through regulation, taxes, tariffs, fuel taxes, mileage taxes, registration fees, etc.
Given how much larger the Honda Civic is today than it was in 1975, selling small cars may be more difficult than Honda’s success would lead one to believe.
Besides - have you seen the size of the average American? Do you really think those fat chicks rolling around in Wal-Mart can fit thru the doors of a small car?
Top corporate officials should be arrest immediately for fraud and lying to American taxpayers. All the bailout money must be returned immediately . . .
I mourn for the employees who are being tossed under the speeding train. By both President Zero and Government Motors. These hardworking Americans will soon be out of work. Many will be homeless by the end of 2010.
Neither will I. In fact, I will never buy another GM car again.
I would be delighted to buy one or two if the price is right (and if I ever decide to take up golf.)
But that’s a Metropolitan.
Not me.
That POC will do just wonderful on our Alaskan roads, not.
Picky, picky.
Looks like the Demonrats, led by the POTUS, are letting oil prices move back to $125/barrel ($4.00 at the pump) by doing squat re offshore drilling, new leases for oil companies, building sorely needed refineries, or building nuclear power plants, although the messiah gave lip service to these alternatives during the still-ongoing canpaign. All to ensure that by the time the GM roller skates are in production we’ll need them.
Where is the world did GM get the idea that people wanted to buy small cars?
Obalmy, that's where.
“You’ll note that the car in question is a Chinese design.”
Is that the same one that scored absolutely zero on the crash safety tests in Europe?
Wow, I've never seen headlamp assemblies that reach from the grille to the A-pillars.
No, no, no. I read on another thread that it's the Speculators again. Their greed is driving the price back up.
Maybe if we ask the Speculators nicely, they could drive housing prices and the stock market back up, too?
By the way; your comment is 100% correct, in spite of what some people believe about the Speculator Boogie Man (he lives under your bed and comes out at night to push oil prices up).
Pictures that are worth a thousand words.
Well, Superman had his phone booths.
We may become alternative energy tinkerers, not because we believe in their eco-weenieism, but to thumb our nose at them.
And oh ya, I probably wouldn't get the building permit for the solar panel or windmill I design or build either.
