HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, May 29 (UPI) -- Former U.S. President Bill Clinton told crowds in two eastern Canadian provinces there had to more public involvement in solving the world's problems.

Clinton spoke first on Thursday in St. John's, the capital of Newfoundland and Labrador, and coined his own term -- communitarianism -- for personal involvement, the city's Telegram newspaper reported.

"All of us need to think of our citizenship in terms of what we can do in our communities and halfway around the world," he said. "The truth is, cynicism and pessimism is an excuse to do nothing."

He later flew to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where his address was similar in a call for activism in such areas as AIDS and other disease prevention, poverty and inequality.

Some 3,500 people paid between $139 and $995 to hear the 62-year-old Democrat's speech, the Chronicle-Herald newspaper said.

The Washington Post said Clinton's lucrative public speaking career earned him about $10 million in 2006, 80 percent of which was donated to his charitable foundation.

Friday, Clinton was to participate in a one-hour discussion with former Republican President George W. Bush at Toronto's Air Canada Center domed stadium.

2) "The Washington Post said Clinton's lucrative public speaking career earned him about $10 million in 2006, 80 percent of which was donated to his charitable foundation." ...as a tax dodge.

The next thing this mental giant will be urging is antidisestablishmentarianism.

Bill Clinton did not coin the term “communitarianism”.

We’re all socialists now, right Bill. Some pigs, you among them, are more equal than others.

Clinton spoke first on Thursday in St. John's, the capital of Newfoundland and Labrador, and coined his own term -- communitarianism -- for personal involvement, the city's Telegram newspaper reported.

According to Merriam-Webster, communitarian was coined circa 1909. So Clinton's coining of the word is counterfeit.

"All of us need to think of our citizenship in terms of what we can do in our communities

Does that include forming armed militias against all enemies, foreign and domestic? That's something we can do for our communities. Somehow I doubt that Clinton, Obama and their gang would consider that an approved activity.

Yeah, I’m sure Bildo was focussing on communitarianism when getting serviced by a government employee under the desk in the Oval Office.

I agree. I propose a combination of individualism, personal responsiblity, and charity; a much better combination, and one that preserves individual liberty. Those on the left oppose ‘charity’ because they are essentially envious angry people who resent having to say thank you. They just want to ‘stick it to’ those they resent. It galls them to give credit to someone who has been successful and who then decides from their own heart to give charitably to others.

That's kind of a long word. It needs a nickname.

Ah, how appropriate. It shortens to 'commie', too. ;-)

“Communitarianism is code for the end of private property.”

Because they are bathing and luxuriating in the waters of OPM.

The career polit-royals need some headsontheendofapike-tarianism. One is almost incline to say to the foriegn terrorists that the left so wants to “feel”, here ya go: The Dems are the Orwellian-double-speak high-rich-leaders. Have a ball.

Somehow I associated the term communitarianism with G. K. Chesterton.

But then again, I doubt that Chesterton and Clintoon have the same thing in mind.

Those on the left oppose ‘charity’ because they are essentially envious angry people who resent having to say thank you.

They're also opposed to individuals having the right to decide which charities to support with money they earned. They want government to take more and more from the productive sector and spread the wealth around as it sees fit.

It was pretty amazing that Obama tried to significantly reduce the deductions for charitable contributions. He wants it all under his control.

Putting lipstick on the pig known as communism.

You know its as if the “eloquent orators” now in charge of the Democrat Party think that if they only use that great oration to relabel Communist Statism then they can get people to forget the more than 50 Million lives it consumed in Asia and Europe.
