My wife had horse meat in China, said it was better than sushi..
The Chinese eat almost anything. Some years ago I read the account of a man who traveled to China before WWII. He went to a special restaurant to eat. At this restaurant there was a long table where everyone sat. Under the table was a trough where the waiters discarded the food that they scraped off the plates of previous customers.
One of the specialties of this restaurant was raw monkey brains. It was fresh. They brought out the monkey, chopped off the top of its head with an machete, and then the customer scooped out the brains from the scull while still warm.
That must be better than sushi as well.
I, and a lot of others, had horse meat in Houston in late 1940 to early 1950. Seems that a lot of the companies supplying meat to restaurants weren’t too discriminating when it came to what they butchered. Most of the horse meat ended up as hamburgers.
