KENT COUNTY - Investigators are calling it a senseless crime. A prize winning horse was shot and killed behind a family's home over memorial day weekend.
Terri Gordon is known as "the Horse Whisperer." She has raised the animals all of her life. It's her passion. Now, she only has three left.
"This is wrong, that she had to suffer that level of pain," said Gordon, the owner.
Ambre, the horse she spent the past 25 years raising, was shot and killed at her home on Buth Drive in Comstock Park while she and her husband were out of town on Monday afternoon.
"She deserves so much more dignity than what somebody chose to do her," said Gordon.
Gordon says the horse was shot twice in the barn behind her home with a rifle.
"To kill a horse, a domesticated animal in the safety of their own stall is unfathomable, it's wrong," she said.
Her family's now struggling with the brutality of what happened and what could have happened if one of them was in the barn when the shots were fired.
Deputies scoured her five acres of property looking for shell casings but, so far, they came up empty.
Gordon says losing Ambre is the end of an era for her family. They won't be able to start a new chapter until they catch the person responsible.
"Anything, just anything that they saw, heard, gunshots, just to call police, contact silent observer," she pleaded.
Silent Observer is offering a 250 dollar reward for information. If you have any information about what happened, please give them a call.
I thought the Chinese were not well endowed..
Gee, that was so funny, I forgot to laugh.
A totally inappropriate joke.
A real live AH that's who.
The only other motive I could think of, is the family has a real enemy here, and no doubt that was one of the first questions asked of the family.
The horse at that age would be retired from showing. (Maybe a week of low level shows like 4H, but nothing to kill over).
Maybe Terri Gordon had enemies. But I doubt it. She led a week of 4H with 300 riders with their 300 mothers. Not an easy task.
Horses don’t have fowl..they have foals..
That is not funny especially under these circumstances.
The Chinese eat almost anything. Some years ago I read the account of a man who traveled to China before WWII. He went to a special restaurant to eat. At this restaurant there was a long table where everyone sat. Under the table was a trough where the waiters discarded the food that they scraped off the plates of previous customers.
One of the specialties of this restaurant was raw monkey brains. It was fresh. They brought out the monkey, chopped off the top of its head with an machete, and then the customer scooped out the brains from the scull while still warm.
That must be better than sushi as well.

“My wife had horse meat in China, said it was better than sushi..
I thought the Chinese were not well endowed..”
How crude to make a joke about someone’s wife like that. You scream about inappropriate jokes about a dead horse but you drop a line like that about someone’s wife?
Who is more crude and disgusting? My answer is you.
OMG IT WAS A JOKE!!!! LIGHTEN UP FREEPERS!! THE LINE YOU ARE REFERRING TO WAS A SARCASTIC ONE. THE FREEPER I WAS RESPONDING TO SHOWED A SENSE OF HUMOR AND I JOKED BACK WITH HIM IN KIND. HE HAS NOT COMMENTED ON THE JOKE AND I’M SURE HE IS NOT OFFENDED!! IF HE IS, HE CAN EXPRESS IT AND I WILL APOLOGIZE TO HIM.
A few months ago, a family near Pittsburgh had a blind pony that some scum of the earth tied to an ATV and dragged it till it died. Stuff like that makes my blood boil.
I had a flock of ducks on my fenced property. Last Halloween weekend, someone cut their bills off. It was a truly sickening sight. They didn’t kill the poor things just mutilated them.
Hi Kalee - there’s some sick people out there. What it scary is that if they do these kinds of things to animals, what would they do to people?
I like your homepage.
I know.
Sadly, I have a hunch who did it. There’s a kid in our neighborhood, who is just bad news. He was recently arrested for breaking and entering and destruction of property. He has been suspected of other breakins in the neighborhoood in the past but never caught in the act. A few weeks ago he was found inside a vacant house with a can of red spray paint destroying the walls and doors. He’s 13-14 and definitely headed for major trouble; he and the group he runs with.
How can they be reached?
I, and a lot of others, had horse meat in Houston in late 1940 to early 1950. Seems that a lot of the companies supplying meat to restaurants weren’t too discriminating when it came to what they butchered. Most of the horse meat ended up as hamburgers.
My wife videoed a Chinese meal she had in China(gotta find it)..
The fish had just been taken out the tank, put on a large plate and surrounded by ice brought to the table and thin slices are cut off it and served..
The fish was still moving,my wife said it was very weird the fish looking at you while you eat thin slices of sashimi off it’s body..
Breaking and entering, vandalism, and mutilating animals doesn't count? This kid will kill someone unless they drop the hammer on him now (only because yesterday is too late.)
Terri put on a show in my hometown a couple weeks ago at the Southern Cross Ranch in Headland, AL. I’m sure they know how to contact her. You could call 334-693-9505 and speak to Chuck, Diane, or Penny.
That is disturbing on many levels.
Wow.
