I know what you say is true. I myself went to No Hollywood High in the seventies, had friends who were Mexican and even Arabic but spoke English and were Americans first.
It only took a few years after that for things to take a dive in the wrong direction.
The only problems I had with school were flat out lazy teachers. Class time was mostly reading but not because they were busy teaching ESL, they were just uninvolved and could care less, with the exception of few of course.
To top it off, I think it was on Drudge, but this new nominee is possibly a MENCHA member...wonderful, huh?

I guess people get to be my age 58, and often think the nation is going to hell in a hand basket. I do think my generation has more reasons to think that way than those before it though.

Van Nuys boulevard looks like it was uprooted and planted just outside Tijuana. At Roscoe and Van Nuy’s boulevard, I was actually warned to stay out of the area at night because I’m White, and the gang activity is heavy.
It’s really sad. We go from American Graffiti to this in thirty years.
