California to U.S.: Back us up for new loans State says it needs Washington’s help to stem financial disaster

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - If AIG was too big to fail, how about the world's eighth-largest economy?

In a move with only one modern-day precedent, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Democratic lawmakers are pressing the Obama administration and members of Congress for federal loan guarantees to help the state out of a desperate, multibillion-dollar jam.

California is not asking for cash, like the tens of billions given to AIG, General Motors or Morgan Stanley. Instead, the state with the worst credit rating in the nation is asking that Washington act as a sort of co-signer on the state's borrowing, to be backed up with money from the Troubled Asset Relief Program.

Does that mean the rest of American taxpayers would be “co-signing”, so to speak?

Bailing out a failed state is betting on a sure loser.

Bankruptcy — and everything bankruptcy entails — is California’s only answer.

Isn’t liberalism beautiful?? Let our state bail itself out, and the liberal taxpayers (if we have any) feel the STING of radical runaway tax-and-spend liberals. Of course, liberals will never admit it is THEIR POLICIES that have sunk this state into obscene debt.

Maybe then we might see a change in state government -— or is it simply too late due to a lowering of the average IQ of the electorate??

It would be Taxation Without Representation. The 49 (or 56, depending on who you ask) other States do not have a say in how California (mis)manages its affairs.

And it would also open the door for those of the other 49 to get their own 'loans'. I live in Massachusetts, where spending cuts and government waste are given lip service and increases to sales taxes, tolls and fees are the preferred solution. I don't want our state bailed out...I want its residents to wake up.

“Not No, but Hell No”, How can a state claim sovereignty as a state and be under the thumb of the federal government through borrowing. It’s time to cut the spending, pork and pare down the budget buzzheads!

UR being so unfair trying to ruin our party here in CA. C’mon folks what’s a mere $21 billion in a multi-trillion dollar budget? Only “little people” pay taxes, we here in CA are the hot shots- you know we have Hollywood, Beverly Hills, tons of gays and transgender types, a fantastic public education system where more than one-half don’t give a hoot about a high school diploma. Illegals are all welcome here and we give them cradle to grave public support. You don’t have to be alive to have your vote counted. Our judges make our laws. We are the land of milk and honey. You guys are simply jealous bastards as we soak in the sun and surf and it’s all free as the gays will tell you, “we get to ride your backs”!

Get the picture?

[snip] The former eBay chief executive has not formally declared her candidacy, but a spokesman said Wednesday that she will pick up the 2008 Republican presidential nominee’s endorsement at an event in Orange County on Friday... Whitman is one of several Republicans maneuvering to get into next year’s race to replace Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is prevented by law from seeking a third consecutive term. [end]

Oh I see, it’s not Californians that are asking for anything, it’s their STATE GOVERNMENT, like the Federal government that is driving this country into a GD ditch.

Ya see all those private jets at LAX?

Ya think their owned by celebrities?

Got news for you they 99 percent of them are not.

Ya know who owns most of those private limo jets?

Corporations. Yes, the same corporations that hire illegal aliens by the millions, and the same corporations that contribute to the insiders in D.C.

The corporations own D.C. not the little celebrities, who occasionally rent these jets from the *real* fat cats.
