Obama mouthpiece laughs off birth certificate request
CSPAN http://repubx.com/
***Question comes at around 44 minute mark on the video below (very end of video)***
WASHINGTON Somebody finally asked Barack Obama's White House press secretary about the president's elusive birth certificate.
When asked by WND White House correspondent Les Kinsolving why the president, who has pledged transparency in his administration, would not release his long-form birth certificate to establish his constitutional eligibility for office, spokesman Robert Gibbs guffawed in unison with members of the Washington press corps about the concerns of 400,000 petitioners who have demanded it.
"Are you looking for the president's birth certificate?" he asked incredulously. "Lester, this question in many ways continues to astound me. The state of Hawaii provided a copy with the seal of the president's birth. I know there are apparently at least 400,000 people (laughter) that continue to doubt the existence of and the certification by the state of Hawaii of the president's birth there, but it's on the Internet because we put it on the Internet for each of those 400,000 to download. I certainly hope by the fourth year of our administration that we'll have dealt with this burgeoning birth controversy."
Even if barry was born in Hawaii, he's still a usurper. His father (IF he actually was Obama Sr) never was a US citizen or even an immigrant. BOTH parents need to be US citizens in order for anyone to be President.
Kind of hard to do when no travel ban existed at the time - how do you provide evidence that something didn't exist. What DID exist was a travel advisory, 81-331, issued in August of 1981 and which warned that 30 day visas were required to travel to Pakistan and that such visas were available at the airport for tourists only. All others would need to get their visas ahead of time.
So if travel to Pakistan was banned altogether then why would the State Department be issuing warnings about tourist visas? The fact is that there was no travel ban to Pakistan in 1981 or any other time that I'm aware of. So now the ball is in your court. If such a ban existed as you say then where's the documentation?
Incorrect. All you need to be is a natural born citizen, and the Supreme Court has ruled that anyone born in the U.S. holds that status regardless of the nationality of their parents.
Why not tell us?
How old was his mother when he was born? It is relevant.
18. How is it relevant?
How did he get to Pakistan? It is relevant.
Airplane would be my guess. How is that relevant?
When did the SC rule that?
It’s amazing that Gibbs knows NOTHING about most of the questions reporters ask him. He has more versions of “I don’t know” or “I’m not aware of that” than anyone I know. Yet he is suddenly a meticulously well-versed expert on topics like THIS. I declare, these Democratic men who have been elevated in the Dem party (a la the Peter Principle) are like the losers in high school that hate themselves and the world and annoy the heck out of the regular students with their nastiness. Now it seems they’ve all banded together in the White House. This time, their smart-alec mouths are zinging a sychophantic press.
Several times. U.S. v. Wong Kim Ark, Perkins v. Elg, Elk v. Wilkins, Lynch v. Clark are all Supreme Court cases. Town v Town is a Connecticut court case. In Re Look Tin Sing was a west coast Circuit Court case. All state that persons born in the U.S. are citizens - the term used being native born or natural born, depending on the case. And since the Constitution recognizes only two forms of citizenship - natural born and naturalized - then native born and natural born are synonymous.
Schumer's probably referring to the fact that no court at any level has agreed to hear the case and that most attempts have been dismissed.
How do you know that?
..he was listed as a citizen of Indonesia by his stepfather.
Then he may have held dual US/Indonesian citizenship at some time. That is not a barrier to being president.
And where does the Constitution say that?
On any given subject, there seems to be a FReeper who has dug into it far deeper than the general public.
Again, thanks! You have just upheld FR's (and your) reputation...
I know..I don’t know how we can find out. He has the Hawaiian gov’t buffaloed, he’s spent tons of money to keep his birth certificate hidden. Our elected members of congress don’t have the courage to question him, the presstitutes are in his back pocket. It seems, so far, he’s won.
I’ll let you do your own research. You learn better that way.
Is this good enough?
From ABC NEWS-
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/04/obamas-college.html
“I traveled to Pakistan when I was in college — I knew what Sunni and Shia was [sic] before I joined the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.”
This last part — a college trip to Pakistan — was news to many of us who have been following the race closely. And it was odd that we hadn’t hear about it before, given all the talk of Pakistan during this campaign.
So I asked the Obama campaign for more information.
Apparently, according to the Obama campaign, In 1981 — the year Obama transferred from Occidental College to Columbia University — Obama visited his mother and sister Maya in Indonesia. After that visit, Obama traveled to Pakistan with a friend from college whose family was from there. The Obama campaign says Obama was in Pakistan for about three weeks, staying with his friend’s family in Karachi and also visiting Hyderabad in Southern India.”
So in other words you don't know? You don't know that even if Obama's father got him Indonesian citizenship that would not impact his U.S. citizenship in any way? That regardless of his mother's age, if he was born in Hawaii then he's a natural born citizen? That travel to Pakistan by U.S. citizens has never been banned by our government, not in 1981 or any other time? None of that is really relevant after all? Is that what you expect me to learn? If so, I'm way ahead of you.
Another note about his trip to Pak and India-
The town he said to have visited in India is Hyderabad:
http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/world/india/hyderabad-gen.htm
“Many industries, educational institutions, defence establishments and important research and training centers are located in Hyderabad, including the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), and Defence Metallurgical Research Lab (DMRL).”
“Defence-related computer-science work takes place in a number of labs around the country, many located in Bangalore and Hyderabad, both in Southern India.”
“Air Force Station Dundigal, located north of Hyderabad, is the site of the Air Force Academy. Hakimpet Air Force Station, also located north of Hyderabad, is the location of the Helicopter Training School. No combat aircraft are stationed at these training facilities.”
Wrong again, but I am bored with this back and forth. We can just agree to disagree and keep our guns down range at the enemy instead of at each other. Cheers!
I'm sure it's easier to accept something as true merely because you say it is, but I'll pass on that thanks.
Just one thing to add:
Someone previously said both parents have to be natural born citizens for you to be qualified to be president.
That’s not true. Both parents could be illegal immigrants but if you were born in America, you are a natural born citizen.
The only time you have to have natural born citizen parents is if you were born outside of America.
Both of my parents were born in America, for example. But If my mother gave birth to me on a trip to Rome, I would still be qualified, because of my American parents.
Schumer’s got to think I’m stupid not to question what he wrote!
