Baby Faith Dies at 93 Days – Doctors Had Pressured Mother to Abort

MONCTON, May 27, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Myah Walker has described the time from her daughter’s birth up until this past Saturday, May 23, as the “best 93 days of my life.” Faith Hope Walker, the baby about whom LifeSiteNews had previously reported, passed away peacefully this weekend in the arms of her mother, a 23 year-old student living in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Myah, who maintained a weblog of her daughter’s life, wrote on Saturday, “She looked up at me and opened her beautiful eyes, and I realized what was happening. I told her to go with Jesus. I told her that I loved her and that it was ok, that I would meet her in Heaven.”

Faith was born with a condition called anencephaly, in which a portion of the child’s brain fails to fully develop. With the prevalence in the medical community of eugenic abortion, the great majority of such children are not allowed to live until birth.

Myah has said that she was pressured by hospital staff to have Faith killed before birth via abortion. Doctors told her that Faith was alive only because "she was attached" to her mother and that even if she survived to birth, she would be neither able to hear nor see.

Myah, a believing Christian, was told by doctors that she could continue the pregnancy without risk, "Or, I could choose to induce early to terminate the pregnancy."

She wrote, “For some reason I had to give the doctors my decision over and over again, which was frustrating. One doctor asked, 'Can I ask why you want to continue this pregnancy?' I guess some people are baffled by unconditional love.”

When the baby was born, she was apparently able to both see and hear and suffered no health problems other than anencephaly. No medication was required in Faith’s daily care and she was able to breastfeed, although she also received nutrition through a tube.

As a “lethal foetal anomaly,” anencephaly is widely considered justification for abortion or “early induction” of birth, even by some Catholic ethicists.

As LifeSiteNews.com has reported, Fr. Michael Prieur, the chief ethicist for the diocese of London in Ontario, Canada has justified the procedure for lethal foetal anomaly in his work at St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital in London. He wrote in a June 1997 paper that the hospital had been using early induction for children diagnosed with anencephaly since 1985.

Something is wrong with my laptop, the screen is all wet and blurry.
Prayers for the family that they are able to celebrate the life of this precious child even for a short time.

“They have no explanation as to how Faith is even alive and breathing, let alone functioning on a conscious level! There are just some things doctors can’t explain ;)”

They have no Faith.

They don’t even have all the questions, but some of them have faith - not this group, obviously.

The first child of a young couple of my acquaintance was thus afflicted, and lived only a few months. But in those few months that young father and mother demonstrated an unassailable and unstinting capacity to love their baby, one that many might deem unlovable. They taught us much. I pray that God has blessed them with more children to love, children that have survived in good health.

I think (texas?) that bill going up into legeslation that all pregnant woman that are asking to end there babies life must first get a sonogram is a great idea.

As many here are well aware when the Doctor tells his mother to be that the kid should be terminated due to disabilities how many of there diagnosis are wrong.

I was chatting with parents to be in line the other night and they shared that the doctor claims he found some horrible defect in the babies heart, maybe.

Poor young couple were terriefied and stressed (she is 7months along).

So I pointed to King Vanity (who is a quad due to being still born) and said the docs said he would not live to be a month and he is celebrating his 30th birthday (Saturday May 23) tonight and then they said why do doctors give the worst news.
I dont know I said but he (my son has out lived those doctors and before his last doctor fired me I told him he will be wearing adult briefs old and ending his life before my son does.

Good news is his new doc is awesome and on top of my sons care so it is one less thing I have to advocate to get, good health care screenings.

Trying to get the other doc to due routine testing was a huge battle.

His care extended to hey he KV is smiling so he is healthy.

New doc did all the nutritional tests/blood/urine to get a baseline right off the top and his nurse gets the communication ASAP for other doc appts that KV sees now and then.

I used to have to ride the old doc and his staff to do anything.

I was so ready to move on so glad he ended the relationship.

Just to draw blood it is a 5hr process to get KV to and from the lab....so now we have a private lab come out and only a $5 travel fee.

Works great for sputum too as having a trach and flu season I worry when color of secreations are not good plus when we are both down with flu it is not that simple (energy wise).

The new doc is new to our community which is so rural yet peace filled so finding a doc that will take KVs case as a family doc is almost mission impossible.

Socialized medical care would be a nightmare.

What touching story. My heart goes out to this treasure’s family. God bless the mother for having the courage to see this thing through. While this must be devastating, she got to share 93 days of love with this gift from God. My daughter died at birth, and we never saw each other. While this was a long time ago, I still feel a twinge of sadness of never having bonded with her. I’m so glad this woman got to hold and love this beautiful baby. What a hero and inspiration this woman is. Her family is in my family’s prayers.

Rest in Peace Baby Faith, as brief as your life was; your light burned brighter then most.

“I guess some people are baffled by unconditional love.”

A LOT of people are baffled by love of anything and anyone but themselves. We call those people “liberals”.

I have a niece with downs. She is a young woman now, and is a great blessing to all who have contact with her. It baffles me that some people think people like her have no business living.
