( Ward ) Churchill reinstatement hearing set for July 1

Former University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill will make his case for getting his job back during a one-day hearing to be held July 1, a Denver District Court clerk said Wednesday.

Chief Denver District Court Judge Larry Naves will preside over the hearing, during which both Churchill and the University of Colorado will argue for and against reinstatement of the former controversial ethnic studies professor.

Churchill was fired nearly two years ago by the CU regents after the school claimed he had committed widespread and systematic academic fraud.

This bum has done nothing but bring embarrassment and dishonor on himself and his university, yet he has the gall to drag them to court and demand reinstatement. He has made UC an academic laughingstock but he doesn't care, it's still all about him. Time was when this kind of pathetic loser would have a sense of shame enough to resign and disappear. Naves will decide whether Churchill, 61, gets his job back at CU or whether he should be paid a lump sum of money instead. The judge could also choose to award the former professor nothing.

Number three option sounds more than fair to me.

He was fired, not for his odious views, not for him falsely identifying himself as a Native American; but for academic fraud.

His academic fraud consisted of engaging in a sort of “sock puppet” citation.

Much like REAL science, a work in social(ism) science is judged by how many OTHER people in the field utilize or cite your work.

Ward was just NOT getting the proper recognition of his “work” by others, so he reinvented himself as a sock puppet and then went on to extensively cite Ward Churchill’s work and how important it is.
