Forty-eight percent (48%) of U.S. voters favor a federal law requiring companies to provide paid vacation for all full-time and part-time employees, but most dont think it would be good for the economy.
Thirty-eight percent (38%) oppose a law mandating paid vacation, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. A Florida Democratic congressman is planning to introduce such a law in the House this week.
Fifty-two percent (52%) of all voters believe most companies already provide paid vacations for full-time employees. Twenty-four percent (24%) do not think that is true, and another 24% are not sure.
More than three-out-of-four voters (76%) nationwide say it should be a companys decision how much vacation time to provide for its workers rather than one made by the government. Just 14% say the government should determine how much vacation time a companys workers get.
Support for mandated paid vacation drops dramatically when the government starts determining how much time-off an employee should get. Only 31% [48% of Dems, 16% of Republicans, and 27% of Independents] of all voters support a law such as the one in France that requires companies to give all employees 30 days of paid vacation time.
Fifty-seven percent (57%) oppose requiring companies to pay all employees for 30 days of vacation each year.
Just 27% of all voters think a law requiring companies to provide paid vacation would be good for the economy. Forty-two percent (42%) say such a law would hurt the economy, while another 21% say it would have no impact.
...
Sixty-nine percent (69%) of Democrats think a law requiring paid vacation is a good idea, but 55% of Republicans disagree. A plurality of voters not affiliated with either party also oppose such a law by an eight-point margin, 45% to 37%.

Hey, if you're not going to use all of those nymphomaniacs...
I never considered the service/server waitress area. Then again I never worked in that field more than a summer or two.
That’s really going to help productivity when the rest of the hamburger flippers are paying for their fellow flipper’s vacation at the beach. Not to worry, there will be less traffic at the drive through when a number 2 at McDonald’s costs $15.00!
FUBO FUBO FUBO!
What businesses dont give 1 week paid vacation after 1 year of employment? What businesses dont give paid holidays after 90 days?
Ive never worked for one.

We do, but some don’t and the point is, it’s their CHOICE. If the employees don’t like it, they can find a job elsewhere. that’s capitalism.
people seem pretty stupid to me most of the time. How can 48% think we should have a federal law mandating paid vacation, but 57% think government shouldn’t say how MANY days?
So apparently at least 8% of those who favor a law requiring vacation would be OK if companies complied with the law by providing 1 hour of vacation to their employees.
Government has no business mandating the employer-employee relationship. If I want to get paid more money instead of getting vacation, I should be allowed to do so without government interference .
Of course, some states require that you take a lunch break. I think California requires that you certify each day that you took your lunch break.
The corrupt politicians will always play to that ignorant and the freebie angle.
And the freebies never show, because intelligent people know there is no such thing as a free lunch.
If you haven't yet seen it, the Hugo Chavez Show on Frontline’s website is worth watching. The image of the sewing machines manned and ready by eager workers, waiting for the jobs that never comes sticks in my mind. The sheer stupidity of the seamstresses illustrated by that one scene is priceless.
Classic Freidman, illustrating full employment:
While traveling by car during one of his many overseas travels, Professor Milton Friedman spotted scores of road builders moving earth with shovels instead of modern machinery. When he asked why powerful equipment wasnt used instead of so many laborers, his host told him it was to keep employment high in the construction industry. If they used tractors or modern road building equipment, fewer people would have jobs was his hosts logicThen instead of shovels, why dont you give them spoons and create even more jobs? Friedman inquired.
Employment doesnt make us wealthy production does.
Free STD treatments.
And a huge government program that cures STDs and prevents them from happening in the first place.
A lot of businesses can't. If one or two people call in sick, yet alone go on vacation they would be very hard pressed to keep their doors open.
Why do they always do this. One, we don’t know the question, two, if 48 percent was for it 52% are against it. Last time I looked 52 was higher than 48, but they always put the vote they want up, even if it was 22 % they would have a screaming headline. The percentages have no bearing when you don’t know the actual question asked or how it was asked.
I WANT EVERYTHING AND IT MUST BE FREE!!!! WEE!.....

What prompted this question?
What I do not understand is the government gets involved in many things, EVERYTIME they make the situation worse, no exceptions. rats, and others keep voting for those that promise to make government bigger.
for the life of me, i will never understand this.
It’s all about power ... Nothing complicated.
The convoluted opinions expressed in this poll, prove that pollsters are really stupid.
Most consultans are always off.
Calling them ignorant is being too kind. They are not just ignorant, they’re corrupt. Wanting a hand out is not just stupid, it’s wanting what one hasn’t earned, it is nothing more than thievery.
