German Eurofighter transports sweet mustard to Croatia
Croatian Times
Sausage-noshing German ambassadors used a 67 million GBP Eurofighter warplane to fly emergency supplies of mustard to a VIP party.
Diplomats in Croatia wanted to serve traditional white bangers at the bash to celebrate Germany's 60 years as a democracy but couldn't get the right mustard anywhere locally.
So they called in air support from the Luftwaffe who sent pilot Norbert Biehler with a case of the special sweet mustard for the party, reports Croatian newspaper Jutarnji List.
Now the extravagant use of military funds in under investigation in Germany.
"It's difficult to see how they can justify the expense," said one Berlin political source.
The Bavarian white sausage is regarded as the ultimate in German cuisine and there is even a 64-page best selling book devoted to the proper way to eat the delicacy including how to serve the special sweet mustard that accompanies it and what beer to drink.
Do they need any pizza from St. Louis? Bambi has the ph #.
Just a simple training flight...
wow that is some “training mission”
some training mission, and probably the most hi-pri situation any Euro-German Euro-military Euro-jet will ever be in.
One only has to visit a good sized German supermarket to understand the devotion to this condiment....It's own aisle, oftentimes. And then there are the curry-satsup concoctions. Yum.
A young woman I dated made a point of always having a variety of tubes of mustard and horseradish (think toothpaste) in her purse. Most of her friends, from little dorfs in the country, did the same.
Well given proximity and the fact that Germany occupied Croatia you’d think there would be a loosy jar of Handlmaire’s around somewhere.
This reminds me of when a Coast Guard Admiral took a Falcon jet ride from New Orleans to Arizona to “inspect a reserve unit” that just happened to be near where there was a wedding in the family. That’s not so bad, but his wife left a pair of shoes so he sent the plane back to get them. That’s only one of the things that got him in big trouble.
wow that is some training mission ...................... At least it didn’t involve the whole unit as it did when I took a space available flight about 30+ years ago. What was a donation flight eventually had 4 cargo aircraft going cross country delivering parts to repair the first plane. Practically the whole unit ended up on the other side of the country. All that, just to deliver a card board box. But we all had a good time in Tijuana for the 3 days we were there.
Want to bet the wing commander is going to have to walk the plank on this one?
I trust they already had the right beer ....
As far as i remember the german luftwaffe has a german beer supply flight once a moth from germany to Holloman AFB,NM where they do their low level flight training. :-)
Ohne Mampf kein Kampf!!
You Sir have close ties to bavaria because this is a true insider information.

I was in an Aldi’s yesterday, German owned grocery chain and there wasn’t one friggin can of sauerkraut in the entire store but they did have a sweet mustard.
