Cool link. There’s a way to see the stats compared over the last 5 years. Ohio has only 39% of its corn planted. Looks like it goes in the ground this week or not at all. The 39% is only about half the 5 year norm. if I am reading the chart correctly.
I only have 1/3 of my corn planted. I’m planting my second crop in another week, and the third in about a month.
The planting season in Illinois and Indiana is even further behind than Ohio according to the charts there. However, Iowa is right on schedule with their planting and I believe they plant more corn than anybody.
Old data. Most of the corn is in now, at least in my part of Ohio. Many farmers have the beans in now, too.
The last week of pleasant weather has been very good to us.
Traditionally the Cornbelt standard has been to get corn planted by the 4th of July. Production is reduced, but you still get a viable crop. With modern “franken corn” they can probably still get 1.5 corn crops in ~ with the second half consisting of stalks cut for silage.
