Burping of the lambs blows roast off menu
Times Online From The Sunday Times ^ | May 24, 2009 | Jonathan Leake, Environment Editor

GIVE up lamb roasts and save the planet. Government advisers are developing menus to combat climate change by cutting out “high carbon” food such as meat from sheep, whose burping poses a serious threat to the environment.

Out will go kebabs, greenhouse tomatoes and alcohol. Instead, diners will be encouraged to consume more potatoes and seasonal vegetables, as well as pork and chicken, which generate fewer carbon emissions.

“Changing our lifestyles, including our diets, is going to be one of the crucial elements in cutting carbon emissions,” said David Kennedy, chief executive of the Committee on Climate Change.

Kennedy has stopped eating his favourite doner kebabs because they contain lamb.

A government-sponsored study into greenhouse gases found that producing 2.2lb of lamb released the equivalent of 37lb of carbon dioxide.

Studies show that this hog emits 50lb of carbon dioxide within an hour of consuming his usual midday Triple Cheeseburger and large Onion Rings snack.

The real bad guy in all of this carbon dioxide stuff is the oceans. They give off so much CEEEEE OOOOOOOO TWOOOOOOOO. So I’ve decided to sell all of my beachfront property and to give up big wave surfing. I know it’s only symbolic (sort of like closing Gitmo) but it is just me doing what I can to discourage the oceans from being so mean and ruining our environment.

They couldn’t possibly encourage me to eat more meat if they tried.

Or maybe that is exactly what they’re trying to do! /tinfoilhat

Please, true God, stop the insanity.

I am so sick of this religion of “green” (more accurately, red). World-wide, no less.

If this guy stopped talking it would be the equivalent of 500,000 sheep burps.

I LOVE lamb! Mmmmm—mmmmmm!

Had no idea the li’l beasties had such a bigass carbon hoofprint. Good for them!

It’s a win-win, baby! Gonna eat MORE lamb.

David Kennedy, chief executive of the Committee on Climate Change.

I personally will never have a Kennedy plan my menu, I would be afraid it would burst into flame!

And down precipitously will go the profits as I go to a restaurant that isn’t asinine.

If we could just tone down even 50% of the hot air coming out of the leftist camp...

Problem solved!

The key is harnessing that power for mankind’s greater benefit.

I can heat and light a small poverty-stricken rural village on just one good bean burrito.

Some merely have digestive systems... I have a state-of-the-art biogasification plant right here under my sixpack.

I was a first born. Don’t try to give me a “Big Brother” at this stage of my life. I never wanted one when I was a kid, and sure don’t want one now.

And, hey! How come there’s not one mention about the effect of eating beans? Guess they don’t harm the environment, while being grown.

I make a great rack of lamb or a whole leg of lamb over
a mesquite charcoal grill. Wask it down with a nice “Cab”.
They’ll take both from my cold dead hands!

"Out will go kebabs, greenhouse tomatoes and alcohol."

So which Brits (article above from London Sunday Times) have yet another crooked racket going to illegitimately keep the competition down? Greenhouse tomatoes consume carbon dioxide and release oxygen just like other plants.

I hope that these clowns just keep it up, because there is going to be a backlash that they won’t believe in the next elections in the US and Europe. These people simply have too much time on their hands, and I for one would like to solve this problem by having them make smaller rocks out of larger ones in a prison yard, so that they can better understand the meaning of “work”, and so that they have less time to contemplate how others should live.
