OTTAWA, May 25 (Reuters) - Canada's public broadcaster was wrong to show a skit that joked about the possible assassination of U.S. President Barack Obama and suggested he could be a thief, an industry panel ruled on Monday.
The New Year's Eve "Bye Bye" comedy program -- shown by the French-language Radio Canada network -- generated more than 200 complaints. In one segment, two hosts discussed Obama's election in November 2008. Obama, who took office in January, is the first black U.S. president.
"We're not racists. It will be good to have a Negro in the White House. It will be practical. Black on white, it will be easier to shoot him," one of the show's hosts remarked.
The Canadian Broadcasting Standards Council said it found "nothing redeeming in the allegedly comedic notion that an American president should be shot, still less that this would be easier to achieve because of the color of the president's skin. It was a disturbing, wounding, abusive racial comment".
The show also featured an interview with an actor pretending to be Obama. The host said, "The blacks, you all look alike," and then warned viewers to hide their purses.

Apparently, it’s PC to revel in a president’s demise if it’s some white guy.
While i don’t find it funny to joke about a President’s assassination I do find it quite humorous that the lefties can’t deal with the same treatment Bush got.

Hmm...don’t know if that’s true or not but sometimes people do take stuff the wrong way. Short statured people had a problem with Randy Newman’s “Short People” song but actually the song has Newman portraying a bigot (the lines people seem to miss: ‘Short People are just the same as you and I’/’The fools such as I’) Thus Newman is making fun of bigots not being one.

I am glad you have indicated to our American friends, the difference between English speaking Canadians and those primarily French speaking. It is those of us who are English speaking, who are likely to bear the brunt of any "holier than thou" edicts.
I don't know about Nova Scotia- cept when I landed there and stayed for eight months, but here in Ontario, those comedians would be absolutely reduced to quivering apologies.
It could be said though, as in regard to assassination of a certain Canadian politician, now gone to his reward. "he ain't worth the price of lead in a bullet". LOL
Actually, the song is intentionally ambiguous. The lyrics you cite can also be interpreted as the singer's unserious sop to bleeding hearts. That ambiguity makes the song more complex and interesting.
There is nothing complex or interesting about these Canadian liberal comics. In place of humor, they offer a simple message thinly disguised as black humor parody: Racist conservative morons want to assassinate Obama.
Like much liberal humor, this is not funny. Nor is it racist. It is just rank, ignorant, anti-conservative bigotry.
