SINKING ANCHORS ANDERSON COOPER AND ROLAND MARTIN HOBBLE CNN
NY Post ^

Posted on 05/25/2009 4:33:56 AM PDT by jakerobins

SINCE President Obama took office in January, CNN has seen its ratings drop. And one reason has to do with Campbell Brown. The host of "No Bias, No Bull" has been on maternity leave for the past month, and in her absence, the show with substitute host Roland Martin has nose-dived. Sources say he has complained the network doesn't promote him enough or book him high-profile guests.

But the biggest disappointment has been the cable channel's big, silver-haired hope, Anderson Cooper.

The former host of "Celebrity Mole" should be happy he signed a multimillion-dollar, multiyear contract with CNN last year during the presidential race, when ratings were at an all-time high. If his contract were up now, Cooper would probably have to settle for far less.

The ratings have plunged for his show, "Anderson Cooper 360," since Obama's inauguration, and the drop in May has been steeper, especially in the coveted 25-54 demographic, where he's down nearly 30 percent from the previous month, averaging less than 250,000 demo viewers.

Tuesday night, Cooper raked in only 615,000 viewers overall. But it wasn't his slowest night ever -- that was May 8, when he clocked in a lousy 499,000 viewers.

Gee, who wouldn’t want to listen to a snarky queer insult our intelligence? I don’t get it. Poor Anderson.

As for CNN...somewhere after the 2010 elections....they will eventually decide to take on Fox News....and go right-wing.

****
I think their best approach would be to actually present the news without bias. I do occasionally surf over to CNN when FOX has on someone, e.g., Geraldo or Huckabee, or something I do not want to see.

FOX, I have noticed has been leaning to the left. I was pretty disgusted with their noncoverage of the alternate graduation at Notre Dame.

Now it is only Obama this, Obama that blah, blah, blah. Except for Fox, TV sucks....

You said it. Not to mention Tiny Tim (who was, folks, actually a very religious and conservative fellow).

Ha! When I first saw this, that’s how I read it!

It’s easy to see why CNN’s ratings are so low. The liberals have CNN, PMSNBC, ABC, CBS and NBC and conservatives have Fox News. They are splitting up the liberal watchers five ways while conservatives have only Fox. The “lib five” are going to have to go more to the right or at least try to balance it out some in order to get better ratings. Remember, at one point Michael Savage had a short-lived TV show on PMSNBC. If they would hire some conservatives I would watch. I used to watch Beck on CNNHN. But I’d say I’ve probably watched a grand total of one hour of CNN/PMSNBC since the election. It’s a total waste of time.

I betcha if CNN would take on the Birth Certificate issue that could become the number one news network, especially since our conservative network or any newstalkers will not address the issue!

Has anyone else noticed how many black news readers have been added on the alphabets news stations from local to national since the one has been elected? Most of them are not talented enough to warrant their positions, it reminds me of the 70's when equal opportunity became mandatory for license renewals of TV and radio stations, except females counted as a minority too. Pretty much they all sucked then just like now.

I do not like it when race is shoved upon me for PC reasoning, period. If they were good enough to be on the TV or radio, that is great, but all of them are below mediocre at best.

If you haven't seen the new girls on CNBC, don't watch unless you want the BP to rise, they are the worst yet as they know nothing about economics or financials(just like the little brown man in the WH)but do have that days Commie talking points about how to wreck an economy in less than 6 months. /rant off

Anderson seemed to think it was terrible that CEOs made so much money
for underperforming. I guess he doesn’t feel that way about himself.
Plus, he is heir to a huge fortune. Why did he get his agent to
get such a big contact. Isn’t that greedy?

“As for CNN...somewhere after the 2010 elections....they will eventually decide to take on Fox News....and go right-wing.”

Won’t happen. As CNN sees it, Anderson Cooper is CNN’s rightwing reporter.

This isn’t about business model. If it was, the NY Times would have been fair and balanced 40 years ago. It is about political agenda and the unsuspecting morons who fund these ventures.

CNN can be successfulby making two changes. One, news is news. Stop editorializing it and report the truth. Two, leave Cooper and friends on and admit they are liberal commentators. Bring on conservative guests and argue the issues in a civilized format.

That is Fox’s business model and it works. The way to be successful is copy a successful business model.

Anderson seemed to think it was terrible that CEOs made so much money for underperforming.

This whole thing about CEO pay is so convoluted. A CEO (correct me if you think I am wrong here) is offered pay by a corporation's board of directors.

If someone offers me eighteen gazillion dollars to be the moronic dupe fogging a mirror for them, how am I at fault for accepting the money?

A CEO is an employee, not the owner of the corporation.

I am sure the “Slobbering Love Affair” with Barry is getting boring. It is probably why people have quit watching. Nobody is as great, perfect, and always right, which is how they paint Obama. Most people know that puppy love reporting and commentary just isn’t honest.

The entire media has failed miserably.

CNN and anderson cooper could try an expose on acorn, obama, the stimulus porkfest....or any host of subjects, but alas, it is more important to forge ahead with an agenda then to seek real news.

My point is that news people are often the greediest people
around. Katie Couric took a huge salary increase at NBC
while the minions there were being let go.

Exactly right you are too!

As well, the news blabberers also demononize CEOs of private corporations!

And Katie Couric and Orca... err... Oprah... also care so much about the poor! They care sooo much about the poooor, that they sell their used designer shoes at a reduced 20% profit as fan memorabilia...
