East German Spy Shot West Berlin Martyr
The name of Benno Ohnesorg became a rallying cry for the West German left after he was shot dead by police in 1967. Newly discovered documents indicate that the cop who shot him may have been a spy for the East German secret police.
It was one of the most important events leading up to the wave of radical left-wing violence which washed over West Germany in the 1970s. On the evening of June 2, 1967, the literature student Benno Ohnesorg took part in a demonstration at West Berlin's opera house. Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the shah of Iran, was to attend and the gathered students wanted to call attention to his brutal regime.
The protests, though, got out of hand. Pro-shah demonstrators, some of them flown in from Iran for the occasion, battled with the student protestors. West Berlin police also did their part, brutally beating back the crowd. At 8:30 p.m., a shot was fired, and a short time later the 26-year-old Ohnesorg, having been hit in the back of the head, became the left wing's first martyr.
Now, though, the history of the event may have to be re-written. New documents discovered in the Stasi archive -- the vast collection of files left behind by the East German secret police -- reveal that the policeman who shot Ohnesorg, Karl-Heinz Kurras, could in fact have been a spy for East Germany's communist regime.

The letter in which Kurras allegedly agreed to work for the East German secret police, the Stasi.
Ohnesorg was shot at a demonstration outside the Deutsche Oper in West Berlin. Students were protesting against the Shah of Iran, who was attending the opera that night.
Ohnesorg's death quickly became a rallying cry for the West German left. Here, the hearse carrying Ohnesorg's body on its way to his hometown Hanover.
The exact circumstances of his death have never been fully explained. Evidence seems to indicate that police were in the process of beating Ohnesorg when he was shot. There is little evidence that he was fighting back. Witnesses report hearing a police demand of Kurras after the shot went off: "Are you crazy, shooting here?" Kurras replied, "it just went off."
A number of radical left groups in West Germany -- including the Red Army Faction -- pointed to Ohnesorg's death as a justification for their activities.
Here’s the thing...the kid shot had no targeting status at all....other than being there at the event. The entire agenda was to create turmoil, which it did...for months and years.
So now, we stand here and look over this incident...and start looking at various other incidents of the 1960s and 1970s...and start to ask questions. Maybe James Earl Ray was right. Maybe alot of events of America....were planned events within the KGB.
Likewise, N. Korea had its hands on many violent political incidents in S. Korea. I think N. Korea's subversion operation is still on-going. I am pretty sure that we will find quite a lot of evidence on such NK operations when its regime falls and we could have our hands on document archives of their security agencies.
Thank you for the ping TigerLikesRooster.
Shah ping.
The catalystic event of German Communist terrorism was... surprise... perpetrated by a Communist agent. There goes the myth of the “reactionaries” killing an innocent bystander.
Thanks for an excellent post.
Slowly, slowly the real extent of the export of Soviet terror to western Europe during the 60s, 70s and 80s is becoming evident. Of course early investigators like Claire Sterling knew what was going on (as did Bill Casey the CIA director), but the liberals in politics and media managed to hide this knowledge for another 20 years.
Another violent deed - the bloodiest terror attack in Europe during the 80s - ascribed to the fascists may well turn out to have been carried out by left-wing terrorists and/or palestinian terror cells.
I wrote about it here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2020576/posts?page=7#7
but since then new information has emerged. For those who read Italian here is a transcript from a question and answer session in the Italian parliament (29 January 2009):
Thank you for the links. Although my Italian isn’t too good, I could still figure most of it out.
I wonder why they used a Cadillac hearse for his funeral?
Interesting name: “Ohnesorg(e)”, “without sorrow”, perhaps “carefree”.
Still, a 26-year old literature student?
I also received the same information in a Farsi text. Did you?
New source using a rather rough name - MOHAMMAD BACHEBAZ (for others than Solidwood) means Mohammad the paedophile.
BTW Solidwood, if you get Farsi language articles, Emails etc you think are good for http://antimullah.com please forward them to alan@antimullah.com
Or anything you see in English you think needs a wider international audience. As you may have been informed by my pings, we get visits in 30+ languages and in the thousands a day.
Visit AntiMullah site today and read the new articles that show what a mess we are in and why. Details and graphics.
cheers,
Likewise NORK involvement in some of the lefty groups here in the U.S. - groups that make no effort to hide their communist agenda.
The catalystic event of German Communist terrorism was... surprise... perpetrated by a Communist agent.
Essentially fitting the same pattern as the Reichstag fire (lookit, essentially no difference between the Nazis and the Commies).
Makes me wonder what can happen here.
Better, worse or no different than Ahmadinejad?
ping for later read..
This guy was Prime Minister for Khomeini and murdered thousands at that time. He was a tough man and was ruthless.
He fell into disfavor and went about his own life.
This time around, he throws his hat into the Presidential race as a “moderate” and promises to reduce the pressure on the populace - attacking Ahmadi-Nejad for destroying the islamic iranian economy.
He also tentatively offers to repair international ties and talk to the USA/West. Pragmatic man not afraid to use force.
I would not expect him to win but he might change the scenery enough in his campaign for some of it to survive and some of the mid to sticl to his opponents.
But Moussavi is certainly no shoe-in. In addition to his political limitations, he is being challenged by Mehdi Karoubi, the former speaker of parliament, who will inevitably split some of the reformist vote. His liberal detractors emphasize that the Moussavi government oversaw the mass execution of political opponents in 1988, and say he has been largely silent on human rights violations since. They also point to his support for Khomeini's fatwa against Salman Rushdie, the British author of The Satanic Verses. Moussavi's mindset is often characterized as a throwback to the early years of the revolution, when Islamic economics, shared sacrifice, and self-reliance were the political norm.
Thanks for the ping!
Musavi BTW was also responsible for having Iranians wait all day long in food lines during the Iran-Iraq war. Khomeini had this done on purpose. People who wait all day long for bread have no time to stir trouble.
Musavi is a butcher and Khomeini henchmen. In fact in this respect (oppression) he has a worse record than Ahmadinejad, who back then was a revolutionary/terrorist/soldier.
@FARS
Will let you know if I have something for antimullah.
