Memes and Analysis for 5/24/2009
Obama versus Cheney along with the moral imperative of driving conservatives out of politics (particularly out of the GOP) are the dominant memes of the day. MTP may be the most blatant in framing the issues in their show promos (Obama seeking middle ground? Who are they kidding?) but the rest of the MSM spin team are definitely in full court press mode.
The Democrats, queued by The Ones Thursday speech, are doubling down on their attacks on Bush, Cheney and the last eight years of defense policy. We were never truly in danger, what we did was torture (and dont you dare disagree) and morally grotesque and, in fact, was the only real crime committed by anyone (including Al Queda) during that time. Regardless of Obamas declaration of disinterest in prosecution, those calls are starting to get more shrill in the libosphere (including the DBM).
Colin Powell and Tom Ridge are on hand as reliable RINOs to denounce Cheney, Rush and all things conservative (why dont they throw in some red neat and mention Ann Coulter and watch the spittle fly?). So the anti-conservative push is on full force. Oh joy!
By my count its 18 pro Obama versus 8 pro Cheney pundits this week. I wonder why the powers that be let it be even that close.
Support for The One might just be slipping. We can only hope.

Good morning, my friend.
Excellent work.
I think it was George Will who said of Clinton that he was not the worst president ever, he was just the worst person ever to be president.
Now we have one who is both.

Thanks Phsstpok for the posting.
This torture crap is a smoke screen to bash the right. Nothing more, nothing less. Maybe we really need a discussion of what is and what is not torture.

Hi Phsstpok, and thanks for your work. FOX looks particularly good today, with two Republican conservatives and the most conservative Democrat Senator still in Congress.

Thanks for your great work. This is an excerpt from the link to Kristol’s column in the Weekly Standard. It is a good example of malignant narcissism. -——
.
In an interview for Richard Wolffe’s new book, Renegade: The Making of a President, Obama told the Newsweek reporter he wants to hold a “Muslim summit.”
If I had a Muslim summit, I think that I can speak credibly to them about the fact that I respect their culture, that I understand their religion, that I have lived in a Muslim country, and as a consequence I know it is possible to reconcile Islam with modernity and respect for human rights and a rejection of violence. And I think I can speak with added credibility.

I don’t watch the Sunday shows anymore, but your framing of the Topic on “Face the Nation” was laugh out loud funny. (It’s funny ‘cause it’s true.) quel dommage
