WASHINGTON (AFP) Two top Bush-era officials on Friday rejected ex-vice president Dick Cheney's scathing criticism of US President Barack Obama, saying the country's national security was not in jeopardy.
Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who served in the same post under former president George W. Bush, and Tom Ridge, the former head of homeland security, both voiced disagreement with Cheney a day after he attacked Obama's performance as the new commander-in-chief.

All of a sudden, I have a headache.
‘Well I guess we know for sure about Gates and Ridge now.’
File them under ‘boot lickers’. In the mean time, Cheney’s the man....
All RINOs report to Obama’s office, bring knee pads
Gates and Ridge eh. Sounds like RINOcity on the loose in DC again. I’m certain they will live to regret this time of their miserable lives.
I voted twice for Bush, though I never cared much for him. I give him credit for the things he did that were right.
But he was a wishy-washy moderate like his daddy, and one of his greatest failings was putting (or keeping) liberals and Democrats in positions of power.
New World Order, and all that, I guess.
LET the RINO outting continue....
including his last secretary of the treasury.
William Gates should work on updates for Vista.
All you ever had to know about Robert “William” Gates is that he took Zero’s job offer.
And Tom Ridge, well, he wants to step into Snarlin’ Arlen’s shoes, and appears eminently qualified to do so!
Yep, now we know why ZERO gets along with and kept Gatesand Ridge is just another feeble minded Sphincter who hasn’t changed parties quite yet:-) Do they really think We Americans are as Stupid as W.C Fields always said We were?
Guess What? WE AIN’T Mr. Ridge and Mr. Gates and its You guys who are Stupid!
Keep dancing, Gates, attaway to keep your job.
Sooo glad Ridge isn’t entering the race against Toomey.
Remember all the ridicule that ridge generated with his childish color-coded security levels? I was sure about him then...
This must be from that new White House “journalism” outfit.
Blowing with the wind. An old political practice.
This article was posted earlier, but had to leave before I made comments.
Be sure to read the whole article — very few actual quotes.
article “-—both voiced disagreement with Cheney a day after he attacked Obama’s performance as the new commander-in-chief.”
then Gates says.....
snip ”The truth is, it’s probably one of the finest prisons in the world today. But it has a taint,” Gates told NBC television’s “Today” program during a visit to New York.
snip..”The name itself is a condemnation. What the president was saying is, this will be an advertisement for Al-Qaeda as long as it’s open,” he said.
snip later down .. Gates ....”The truth is there’s a lot of fear-mongering about this. We’ve never had an escape from a super-max prison. And that’s where these guys will go, and if not one of the existing ones, we’ll create a new one,” he said.”
(we’ll create a new one — put america back to work, huh)
and article quotes Ridge saying....
“I disagree with Dick Cheney. But I also disagree with the approach both men are taking,” said Ridge, in excerpts of an interview due to be broadcast in full on Sunday.
The reason Dems control everything is because they circle the wagons and air no public disagreements. We need a (not THE)Newt Gingrich to whip everyone into shape...but we don’t have one so nothing is going to change. Shouldn’t we be on the next election by now? When is all that going to start?
I trust Dick Cheney and always have.
I also think he's funny when he wants to be.
I'm a fan...and always have been.
