What she calls her husband's "glaring indiscretion" may not have soured Elizabeth Edwards on the idea of marriage, but she concedes that it has irrevocably dashed her and her husband's dreams of living in the White House and, indeed, any hope of her husband winning any elective office whatsoever.
Mrs. Edwards, the wife of former North Carolina senator and presidential candidate John Edwards, was at the National Press Club Thursday evening for a question and answer session to promote her new book "Resilience."
Mrs. Edwards revealed her husband has determined his affair with Rielle Hunter, a campaign videographer, has made another run for office "untenable," although he would like to continue his work in other forms of public service.
As for her own political future, Mrs. Edwards also ruled out a run for office, but was quick to remind the crowd that recent polling "had me higher than my husband's first run."
The resilient Mrs. E discussed her life's greatest challenges like the death of her teenage son Wade, the stroke of her beloved father, and her diagnosis of breast cancer, but the real life challenge that was the elephant in the room was Miss Hunter.

Silly me. Until now, I thought it was because he was too white or, too elite or, too much of a poser.
Small favors and all of that. Edwards is nothing but a flim-flam man. He reminds me of a money grabbing faith healer. Remember when Elizabeth was going to die before the election was over, how John went for the sappy sympathy vote? It was disgusting. While John was playing up the Elizabeth is dying soap opera, his whore was comforting him.
Someone take diminutive punk out to the woodshed, and give him a beating for being a lying snot.
She is entitled to put up with this jerk for as long as she can.
We are not required to participate in the same kind of self-immolation.
Ambulance chaser’s career was over when he lied his way into the senate. Being on lurches ticket as VP just show how classless he is. His wife is no better, the only reason she isn’t shunned is because of her disease. She was perfectly willing to hide this crap when she thought she still had a shot for the White house. They truly deserve to get up every morning and look across the table at the miserable human being before them may she live 50 more yrs.
