I cannot believe I'm agreeing with Judith Warner, but, well, stranger things have happened. Today, Warner writes that even a liberal like her can't help feeling sorry for Meghan McCain, who's making a national fool of herself. Excerpt:
You can't, after all, go on national TV, all perky and blonde and blushing and young, and endowed with a soapbox years before you've paid your dues and, while talking about how Republicans should reposition themselves on sex, say, "I would never wanna practice anything I didn't preach." Even with the best of intentions. Even if your larger point -- that the Republican party has been hijacked by extremists whose modern-day Puritanism is for many young people a major bummer -- is a perfectly good one.
You can't afford to tweet about licking Stephen Colbert's face, or to call the Republicans "an awesome party to be part of," as though the party of Lincoln were some kind of super-fun co-ed fraternity.
You can't do these things because they're just stupid and, when you're already a sitting duck, particularly one who at some point in her career could very well rise to make a valuable contribution, you just can't afford to look stupid.

Someone needs to step up and hurt her little feelings and tell her to SHUT UP!
Her dad needs to be told to “Shut the hell up” too.
AGREE!
If she wants to talk to the media, please do an internship with Liz Cheney.
Meghan needs to get a real job, and live a real life out of the spotlight for a few years. Growing up would do wonders for her, much more than growing fat, ugly and liberally stupid.
Just what I was going to post. Compared to Liz Cheney Meghan is still in 1st Grade. There is no comparison.
The only reason she looks stupid, is that she IS stupid.
Bump
Bristol Palin is a far classier young lady than the twit and closet Demonrat Meg’n McLame.
Her dad says idiotic statements just as much as Mega.
Republicans didn’t lose because we didn’t get the youth vote and Obama didn’t win by winning the youth vote.
They vote in almost the same % as any other election
So go tell Ms McCain to stuff it and that we don’t care if her peers think conservative social issues are a bummer.
The Republicans are not the Puritans. The liberal Democrats fit that description better with their anti-smoking, anti-meat, anti-fur, environmentalist wacko nonsense.
Republicans are considered Puritanical because of our ideas about sexuality, but if folks lived more along the lines of what Republicans are suggesting, there would be less AIDS, less teen pregnancy, less sexually transmitted disease, and many fewer abortions. Sounds like that would be GOOD for society, but liberals don't like it because they think it would spoil their fun.
