The cynic in me says that the local NAACP is running short of funds. The once useful organization again lives up to its latter-day reputation as marketers of discord.

LOL...as though anyone will notice if the NAALCP boycotts NASCAR. It’s not exactly a big demographic for the good ol’ boys.
To: Colonel Kangaroo
The cynic in you says that? I think it’s the realist in you.

Yet France, NASCARs CEO, in recent years has tried to shed the organizations good ole boy image and reach out to minorities. He has gone on record in previous interviews stating that neither he nor NASCAR supports the Confederate Flag. In 2005, France gave his take on the Confederate Flag to 60 Minutes: I think its a fading image
these are massive facilities. And I cant tell people what flag to fly. I can tell you the flag we get behind. Its the American flag. And to think those dumb monkeys running NASCAR still don't understand how they lost their base. Kick the dog long and hard enough, and he'll leave the yard.

That or they really have run out of things to do. Most NASCAR fans would WANT the NAACP to boycott them.

They tried this when they tried to boycot SC and it came to a head during Black Bike at Myrtle Beach.
More than one scantly clad black female was sporting the stars and bars on something.
When asked about it one of the young ladies responded with something along the lines of “it’s a southern thing.”

IIRC, slavery existed longer under the Union Jack and the Stars and Stripes than the Stars and Bars.
That said, the Bad Black Brother is a bigger threat than the KKK.

A purely racist organization will boycott NASCAR? Good for NASCAR!

And to think those dumb monkeys running NASCAR still don't understand how they lost their base. I think they understood, but I don't think they cared. France always had grander designs than just the South, and in order to put those plans into motion, NASCAR had to move away from its roots to something that was more easily digested by people outside the South.
While the tobacco settlement had a lot to do with things, I suspect NASCAR was perfectly happy to trade the Winston Cup for the Sprint Cup and to trade Kodiak for M&Ms on the race cars.
To: central_va
Yeah, imagine the NAACP demanding that all movies and TV shows have the Obama emblem superimposed over any depiction of the Confederate flag.

You’ll see just as many confederate battle flags flying here at a race in Michigan as you will at Darlington or Atlanta. I say rotsa ruck getting people to quit flying them.

And paint every side door and roof of every NASCAR vehicle with the Confederate flag (maybe the same thing should be done with the Eureka Flag on every V8 Supercar in my country Australia)
