It seems that the thought process of WAY too many Americans did not go much farther than:

Bush = bad
McCain = too much like Bush
Obama = not Bush
Therefore, Obama = good

Hopefully they’re getting a wake-up call now.

As for Gitmo, I agree with AUH2O’s assessment. Unfortunately.

If the Dems get all the socialism that Obama seems to be putting forth, they won't care about losing this one. The GOP better not get too full of themselves, because there are much bigger fights than this one yet to come. But at least they have some idea of how they could experience some future success.

Which ones? There were quite a few that voted to close Gitmo. Obama flipped-flopped on the objections from the commanders in the field and the people across the fruited plain.

The Republicans have yet to oppose Obama on anything.  They're too busy praising Obama everyday at this point.
