More stockpiling ammunition: Fear of potential Obama laws causing mass sales

Every day, Darren Newsom's three Bitterroot Valley Ammunition facilities crank out 300,000 rounds of ammunition.

It's not nearly enough.

“I'm going about 100,000 rounds in the wrong direction every day,” Newsom said. “We probably have about six months of back orders right now.”

Newsom has been in the ammunition manufacturing business for more than 20 years and he's never seen demand this high.

Fearful of the Obama administration's potential to tighten gun control laws, people from all over the country are stocking up on guns and ammunition.

“I went through the Clinton years and there was a bit of a scare then,” Newsom said. “This is like the Clinton years on steroids. On the day of the election, our phones started going nuts. It hasn't stopped since.”

As a master distributor for ATK - the world's largest ammunition business - Bitterroot Valley Ammunition supplies other ammunition manufacturers around the country with the components needed to make bullets.

“I get a million primers in every other day and most are shipped out the very next day,” he said. “I have 100 million primers on back order right now. We just can't get enough of them.”

At a recent gun show in Salt Lake City, Newsom sold somewhere between 300,000 and 400,000 rounds in the first two hours.

“It's just unreal,” he said. “Somewhere in lots of basements around the country, there are millions of rounds of ammunition being stored.”

Local businesses have felt the ammunition shortage.

At Bob Ward's in Hamilton, Mike Matteson said there has been quite a run on ammunition and reloading supplies like bullets and powder since the election.

“We are especially low right now with pistol ammunition,” Matteson said. “There are four or five calibers that we don't even have on our shelves.”

Here in Arkansas, ammo is hard to find. A guy at a guns and ammo shop told me yesterday that he can't keep it longer than a day.

There's a Remington ammunition plant in Lonoke Arkansas. I've heard that they are going 24/7 just to keep up.

Stay away from the mags made by FBSC or whatever theyre called, and the surefire ones. I hear they both suck.

I have a friend whose turned his 223 saiga into an AK and somehow its worked over to take 35 round Israeli Galil mags.

Right now Im just interested in the shotgun most of all. Ive got an SKS and an Olympic M4 carbine for homeland defense.

A year ago my boss owned a couple of high dollar trap guns and a Glock in 9. His ammo stash consisted of a few boxes of #7 and two boxes of 9mm JHP.

Today he owns 2 AK-74's, one Rock River AR, a Kimber .45, a Colt Python, and several other pistols.

He's bought 15,000 rounds for the AR and the same for the 74. He's got at least 5K for the Kimber, too.

This is a guy who before last year didn't do much more than go shoot some trap or clays a few times a year, or hunt pheasants at his buddy's club.

4 other guys in Operations have purchased at least .40 caliber handguns in one flavor or another.

If we ever all showed up at work one day with all the stuff we've got we could turn out a well armed platoon with enough ammo to over run a small country.

Not that we ever would...LOL

Well in this dynamic we have in Ameica today, its the government ( both Dems and Republicans) against the people. Half the people know this fact and the other half do not, thanks to the MSM and their non coverage of the issues.

This dynamic will get so extended that AMerica will become a tinder box, realizing thhat we do not really have a goverment, just a huge tax boondoggle which fleeces the people.

And people will not pay the government much longer, because they did not want a 14 trillion dollar budget designed to line the pockets of the political elite and their patronaged dependants.

How many will say," I am not paying for that, I told them NOT to do it!"

And when the government starts coming after people , what happens then?

Yup. I think more people are just waking up to reality.

Government is not going to protect you. They have no duty to protect you. You have to be your own first responder.

At the local, state or federal levels. More people are waking up to this. At different times and instances people get clarity on this. Some learn from the misfortunes of others, some have to experience it first hand.

Ask yourself, Where is my weapon now, can I get to it in two seconds or do I have to go to the closet, load it before I’m ready to shoot. All the ammo and firearms in the world arn’t word much if you have to go look up your weapon. Be ready!

This is my mainstay handgun, and thankfully, 44 Magnum bullets have remained available.

I've switched to keeping the supply of bullets in the fireproof and waterproof security boxes from SentrySafe. I get them at Sam's Club.

FWIW.

People that protect themselves daily understand this. I move my weapons twice a day. (Yes they are loaded).

Every Gun Store should have a sign out front that says. “If you voted for Obama, turn around and go home”.

Those who made that choice can beg for mercy when the time comes. The way things are going, I am starting to believe that TSWHTF sooner than anyone thinks.

I just bought a set of Hogue grips in an exotic striped tulipwood for my CZ-52. Totally cool looking now, besides all the other great aspects of the pistol.

Pics?

The CZ vzor82 is the very best Makarov pistol, bar none. It has the best DA trigger I have EVER seen, ambi safety, hicap mag, and it just fits.

The only downside is the fine painted finish. I can live with that.

That small group has bought enough firearms to outfit the largest armies in the world, just in the past 7 months or so.

And you can bet that Russia and China have noticed and adjusted plans accordingly.

Every gunstore should have a sign which reads, “Obama-—Employee of the month.”

I was at the Bass Pro Shop in Clarksville, Indiana a few weeks ago and most of their ammo shelves were bare. Surprisingly, there were several large cases of 5.56, 9mm, and .45ACP still on the shelf, along with quite a bit of reloading supplies (but no powder). I spoke with the salesman and he informed me that they have already doubled last year’s sales of both firearms and ammo.

Gee, it’s like people read the Homeland Security report and thought they were being targeted by the government or something.
