WASHINGTON - Congress on Wednesday sent President Barack Obama a bill with sweeping new rules for the credit card industry that will affect just about every American.
...Included in the bill is an unrelated measure by Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., that would allow people to bring loaded guns into national parks and wildlife refuges.
The House approved that provision separately on Wednesday by a 279-147 vote.

“Did you forget the sarcasm tag?”
not at all, Why does anyone need more than one credit card?
My Mastercard allowed me to buy anything up to $30k/month, and I never charge that much in any one month.
Conceal/carry laws are bad laws. It would be best if they were all struck down as a violation of the 2A.
The fact that one needs a license to carry a gun is a violation of the 2nd.
“Why does anyone need more than one credit card?”
Why does anyone need more than one gun?
The problem with thought processes like that is many times it leads to more regulation.
I don’t care if you or I ‘need’ more than one credit card, more than one gun, more than 1,000 rounds of ammo, more than one car, more than 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom in a house.
It is not a question of need.
It is a question of Freedom.
Should you be free to own what you want?
That is not an original thought, and I know about the 15 year mortgages. Its just that it seems outrageous to me, but thanks for reminding me about the profit margins on all goods.
When will the Park Carry Law go into effect? Or, will this negate the Judge’s ruling that stayed the rules put into effect in January 2009?
Which is great! I have a series of CHL’s to make me legal in most of the States where I want to be. Now, I can drive through the Smokies or through the Grand Canyon or Canyon lands and not become an “Instant Felon”.
Believe it goes into effect in 9 months? Or 6. At which time it will obviate court ruling on DOI administrative policy and it’s “environmental impact.”
Approximately February 2010, based on language.
The link doesn’t display the votes anymore. so much for open government.
It just worked for me. Try again.
I am not dumb enough to have loose ammo around in the vehicle. I don’t keep stuff in my glove box except the vehicle stuff, nothing else. I carry in a pistol fanny pack type deal, with all ammo in that. When transporting, it is out of sight. I have not had a speeding ticket in over 35 years. I DON’T speed. I follow the traffic laws, and THAT keeps 99.9% of cops from being able to simply pull you over!!
I didn’t really mean that post was for you in specific- in your posts you seem like someone that has his act together. I meant my post to add to yours about how to keep from getting stopped or searched.
We actually had a former Sheriff get jailed in Mexico for a couple of shells in his truck. Hubby is like you, very careful with ammo but it seems some are not so cautious.
National Parks? Are more than a few posters missing the obvious? Had a close up look at any “National Park” signs lately?
The “NPs” are dwindling rapidly. Seems they’re so important they get to be the property of some exhaulted international organization ... hmm
No problem. I am simply more careful with my guns and ammo. Military training “trains” you to be safe with weapons and ammo, etc. Plus, my father taught me to be safe with guns as a kid. I have been around guns for over 50-plus years, and have yet to have the desire to go shoot up a school, church, McDonalds or Post Office.
